Hookup Organization & Cleanliness

Been searching for this information and just can't find what I'm looking for. What I'm looking for is the best way to keep my fresh water hose and power connections cleaner when in use. Laying on the ground they get all dirty, especially when it rains.

How do you keep yours clean and organized? I was thinking maybe a collapsible stand with something like a hose pipe holder that could be attached. Maybe some hooks for the main power and extension cords. Maybe a tripod type stand like the Salvation Army hangs their pots when collecting at Christmas.

I pretty much just let them get dirty, then take a damp rag and wipe them off as I'm stowing them.

I have a small folding metal table that I lay most of the water hose on. I also try to support the power cord by wrapping it around the pedestal and if there is any sag I place that part on a 5 gallon bucket. I figure that if everything is off the ground there is less chance of ants having a pathway from the ground to the RV. We also use borax around areas that do touch the ground to keep the ants out.

Learned my lesson the hard way on one trip where I parked under a tree and a branch touched my roof. The ants made their way into the camper, literally millions of them, enough that when I woke up on Sunday morning (we were going home anyway that day) we packed up and headed home and then went to work to get rid of them. From then on when I park I make sure nothing touches the roof.

Thanks for the reply Phil Perrin. I've been doing that, but want to dry something better.

Thanks for the reply boomersooner. What you are doing is getting closer to what I'm looking for. The ant thing would be a bonus. I also use borax around the tires and jacks.

Keeping hoses clean.

Never had a problem with ants. Save your old bath towels and use them to dry off equipment. I have been known to wipe the exterior RV after it has rained or is dewy.

I keep an old dish towel hung over the edge of the tote I use to store our surge protector. When it's time to roll up the fresh water hose and/or the power cord - I just wipe 'em off as I roll them onto their respective reels. It knocks off "the big stuff" such that they're reasonably clean when I put 'em away. That's close enough for me ... they're hoses and cords ... I ain't gonna eat off 'em! :-)

same as others, I have a towel in the wet bay and run it under the faucet before I bring in the water hose and the electrical cord. As is winds onto the reel it gets washed off. I stow the towel and change it every couple of trips.

Thanks for the additional replies. I've been wiping them off with wet paper towels and that works, but just seems there ought to be a better way. Maybe I'm getting a little paranoid or germaphobic the older I get, but I can't help but think of where most water and power connections are in relationship to the sewer connection.

I have a few pairs of those cheap brown cloth garden gloves. I just put on a pair and use them to wipe things down as I coil them up. I then just lay the gloves in the electrical bay and they're dried out by the next time I need them.

Our power cord and water hose are wound up inside buckets. Pull out the length I need. Looks neater. Satellite cable hangs by a hook near the power plug. That's as neat as I'm going.
