A friend had an old trailer he was staying in. He used a small propane heater. For some reason it went out. He was drunk and lit a smoke. It burned to the ground in less than 5 minutes. He was lucky. He burnt an ear off and got horrible burns. But he did survive. They burn up FAST!

Notice around 3:15 mark the propane begins to 'safely' burn off...........no explosions just controlled leak
By the 3:42 mark Firefighters have cooled propane area done enough no more burning off
And within 2 minutes of pouring water on...flames are out
IF you should ever experience a fire in your RV............GET OUT/RUN!!!
Plastic, carpet, plywood, styrofoam etc goes up in flames FAST

He was obviously over his axle weight rating.

That caused tire thread to separate from overheated axle hub...steel belts shredded propane line...propane leaked out and accumulated under rig. Owner lit BBQ and WHOOPH...up it went

.... and some folks they would have time to get things out of their safe!
That's why we always had our 'bug out bag' with important papers, etc. sitting near the door. When we left it went with us.

Lucky this wasn't a CG where all the RV's are parked close together. This could have been a lot worse.

BBQ was one of those Hibachi that sit just inches above ground level.

Can't believe I watched the whole video. I knew exactly what would happen, and still watched. I sure hope the dog wasn't in there.
Like others have said, if it catches on fire, get out. These things are basically big match boxes. It's all light weight, thin materials. It burns hot and fast. That's why you need insurance. Just remember to sit down and talk with your agent to make sure you're getting the right policy.

I showed the video to my wife yesterday - she couldn't believe how fast that Open Range 5er burned to the ground. I think she understands that if we have a fire, no matter how small get out NOW. The RV is insured and replaceable, we aren't replaceable and neither wants the tiny bit of personal insurance we each have.
There is a similar Open Range 5er at our 'home' summer CG. I think that they need to watch this video too.
I haven't seen the cause of the fire yet - another fridge, or ??

There was probably damage to the adjacent camper's rigs, with a hot fire like that, the heat for a good ways out would have been intense.
