Going to Travel between states soon; from California.

How best to store and carry handguns in the MotorHome?

A car you carry them locked and in the trunk, clip out. What about the motorhome? There is no trunk.

On my hip, holstered, while driving.
On the nightstand when sleeping.
Unloaded in a handgun safe all other times I feel it's not required.
Yes, I have a CCP.
No, I don't worry about other states CCP laws.
Watching the news convinced me I shouldn't.

A gun is useless unless it is within arm's reach when you think you might need it.

Handgun in MH

Lock box for weapon unloaded
Place in bedroom

Clip with ammo
Place in dresser drawers

Separate/out of reach while traveling

Parked......place clip in weapon and set on table, nightstand, kitchen counter. Wherever you desire...parked the MH is your HOME

With many, many hours of training, it has been said to, Unloaded gun in locked box. Ammo in a separate lock box.
And like Ob said, put them in the bedroom, out of reach.
Read the rules for each state.
If you have a CCP for the state you are entering, for me, I holster it on me.

PS. Someone will probably post a link to a site that tells you about each state.

Read laws for each state your passing through. If your parked, it's usually treated as your home. While traveling it's usually treated like a normal vehicle. Keep ammo and firearm locked separately. This means you may need to purchase a lock box for your firearm.

I have my CPL but not every state will recognize this. It's my responsibility to research the rules.

I hope this thread doesn't get taken down, but it's a hot topic.

Be aware of traveling through tribal lands, they do not necessarily abide by the state laws in their area concerning firearms and concealed carry. They have their own jurisdiction and can support state laws concerning guns or completely ignore them and will act accordingly.

Retired military here that use FamCamps as often as we can.

Since military installation regulations vary widely and oftentimes strictly forbid them we decided to forgo firearms altogether when we went full time 5 years ago.

We carry two Frontiersman bear sprays in the 5th wheel (one in a holster by the door), and one in a cooler bag the center console of the truck. We each also carry a Sabre tactical pepper gel on us when we're out and about.

Locked up in the safe unloaded with a full clip next to it. Never needed to take it out except to clean.

Ummm..it's magazine not clip. There, I said it. Also. Join USCCA and view the reciprocity with the state you have your CCW in. Plan your trips through the states that you can legally carry in [Mod Edit]
