We had a lance 10-9 for 15 yrs, and the wife wanted to walk around the bed since she made it every day. Problem solved with a class A. It didn't take long getting used to.

Yeah. 57' is a bit big for our use 45-48' would be perfect.
Has the opportunity to tour a couple last year and they are amazing.

I am limited by wheelbase at my house otherwise I would have a 45’er. I travel with 2 kids, a dog, a cat, myself, and my wife. Kids usually have a friend each so 6 humans and 2 animals. At 33’ it can get a little cramped at times. 45’ would give everyone some room and maybe even privacy. If it was just my wife and I, 36’ would be ideal, but would never make the bend in my driveway.
If I was full timing with just the wife I think I would bump the 36’ up to 40. I can’t see 45’ for just 2 people, but everyone has different reasons.

Our family has always gone the big route. Big tractors, big trailers, big boats, big homes, big 5th wheels and now a big motor home. We have always said that as we get along in life, we can always go smaller.
Our MO is probably why we always seemed to have small bank accounts. Lol.

I set my driveway length as how big of a unit I wanted. Since my driveway is forty feet long and I didn't want to overhang the sidewalk, this was my limit. I have a 37' 5er and this is big enough for the two of us.

Too big? Too small? Too tall? Too short? Too narrow? Too wide? Too expensive? Too cheap? And so on. Each person defines TO THEMSELVES what their limits or wants are. Face it, no RV is a need. To those that think others have something unneeded, why does it bother you what someone owns? I don’t wonder why someone has a teardrop camper where you can’t even sit up, it’s not for me, but it’s also not mine.
To the OP, I haven’t had a problem getting my MH anywhere based on length. It’s the height that causes more caution.

Some class A and C manufacturers should take note of their chassis wheelbase and gvwr capabilities. Too big is a 34' on a gas chassis with a short wheelbase and a ton of rear overhang with extremely limited departure/approach angles and CCC. This usually does not end well, especially after you dump a ton of money into suspension components trying to defy the laws of physics. Big, nice or cheap. You only get to choose two.
Don't ask me how I know.

Too big is any more than you absolutely must have to meet your RV lifestyle requirements. Six inches wider is a scratch on a tight road. A foot taller is a wiped AC unit from a low branch. A foot longer does not fit a short site and more dollars to store. A lb heavier is less performance and more fuel to buy. A dollar more expensive is a dollar less for travel. Your choices, your compromises and your RV.

Too big is when you can't take it where you want to go, too small is when you don't want to take it where you want to go.

Sitting in the driveway the 44' is just big enough. Driving and trying to camp around Yosemite and it was too big.
Driving down the road with construction and lanes shrunk down, it was too big.
Driving down the I80 in Utah it was just big enough.
Driving out of my curvy tree lined driveway it's too big.
Anyway, you get the point.

I've made the rounds & what I had fit for the time frame. 24ft TT, 30ft 5-r, 37ft gas coach, 41ft diesel coach. None were too big for where we were going at the time. I don't have unlimited funds, but I certainly can afford pretty much anything out there I'd want. I now have a 24ft gas coach & it's plenty for me. I made a couple compromises, but it works for me for where I want to go now.

I think it depends on how you use your RV. Camp in State, National, CoE parks? Smaller usually makes more sense because they are easier to navigate and you have a better chance of finding a spot in the crazy RV world we live in nowadays. Most of those sites were designed back in the 60's and 70's and given the lack of budget for public parks it is unlikely they will be updated anytime soon.
Winter at a resort in Florida or Arizona? Generally you're looking for a home away from home and you'll want the most space you can be comfortable in.
There is really no comparison between the types of lifestyles. Buy what makes you happy and fits how you RV.
