How do you secure your valuables?

Do any of you use a safe in your MH to secure valuables? Things like jewelry, birth/marriage certificates, passports, and dare I ask...guns?

Maybe I am a bit off base, but if I am going to be traveling and eventually FTing, shouldn't I have some means to lock up my valuables? I can't imagine leaving them back in the S&B. Or is it safe to say there is little to no break ins on RVs

Any advice??

Have a safe in ours, but if someone really wants the stuff they will find a way.

1. Copies of all important documents scanned and sent to my web-based e-mail. I can download and print them from anywhere.

2. Leave originals with a reliable and trusted friend, lawyer, CPA, etc. They can fed ex them anywhere if needed.

3. Valuables can be hidden in many places in an RV. Screwed on panels for access to the water heater, TV, microwave, etc. are good bets. A false electrical box in the electrical bay could also be used.

Papers, I have a fire safe (Box with locking lid which is highly fire resistant) Metal I have a hidden place.. NO, I will not describe it.

Copies of important papers are kept "off site" as well.

We have a fireproof (2 hours) safe hidden in the coach that is large enough to keep important papers and and other valuables. I do have scanned copies of documents saved in the cloud in the event something happens to the originals.

If you go full time and sell the house you will downsize and not have much in the way of "valuables."

What we have left is protected by our Chihuahua.

Safe sounds like a great idea. I would say my dog Rudy but being a Golden Retriever he would more likely hold the door open and wag his tail and help them carry out the safe then raise any kind of alarm.

Some guard dogs you guys have! Lol now-a-days, we have to keep an eye on our dogs from getting stolen. This has been a helpful post for me as I assumed a safe was in order, but wondered if it was routine to have one.

To be honest, it's my gun collection I'll have to give up that disappoints me most...nothing valuable, just meaningful.

Hey! I have "upgraded" from retired racing Greyhounds. The only way they would hurt a burglar is if he tripped over them.
