How do you transport firewood in a motorhome

I think the title says it all. I have a motorhome and I usually bring some firewood for a quick weekend. The previous owner just stacked it in one of the basement bays, and it shows.

I started using an open tote, but then I thought about bugs and moisture from rainy days.

Any ideas or thoughts of how/where to store a nights worth of firewood?

Hitch haulers work well if your not towing a dingy.

Not sure where you’re at, or where you camp but around here bringing your own firewood is not allowed in state parks, and some Federal areas as well due to beetle infestation.

In a storage bay, lined with a cut up cardboard box on the bottom & all sides. Kept the bay clean. Would just have to pull out the cardboard to dump off the wood pieces/dust.

I have mine in the bags I purchased it in in a bay. Though it grates me to have to buy and use "store bought" firewood when I have a full rick at the house they aren't kidding about the restrictions. One stick of firewood with insects not from that area can't bork the trees in the whole park and more. It's already happened. Many times. The purchased firewood is dried in ovens hot enough to kill any pests. And conveniently packaged so as not to make too big a mess.

We have given up on transporting firewood at all, even 10 miles from home. The diseases are not joke. I just pay the ridiculous prices at the campground when I need to. Most of the time we use a propane fire pit these days, just because it is too much trouble to deal with wood. That plus it seems most of the west is on fire again …

We do not transport firewood. If I have some left I either give it away or just leave it.

The OP wants to know how to transport firewood to his campsite, just to make it clear.

A hitch hauler, or if you are towing a vehicle, you could put it in the trunk.

Maybe the OP isn't aware of some of the regulations on transporting firewood in some jurisdictions. If the firewood is certified and you have the proper paperwork it's OK in my state. (NY) Otherwise there is a 50 mile limit from the point of origin.
I carry ours in a hitch hauler which will hold three plastic milk crates. I stand the wood on end and can get quite a bit in the carrier without the wood slipping through the cracks in the carrier.

OK thanks for the info, in New Mexico you can carry firewood all over the state without any silly certified paperwork.

I also stack firewood in the back of my Jeep or in the trunk of my Honda.

In NY we have had and are still having a problem with an insect called "Ash Boar". It has virtually wiped out thousands of acres of Ash trees. A lot of us who own land with Ash trees on it have cut every Ash tree on our property. There is no stopping this insect so we are just trying to get ahead of it before our stands of Ash trees get infected and die. By the time you see the damage it's too late. The trees decay quickly and become useless after they are infected.
A lot of the trees which hadn't been infected have been sawn into lumber but some have gone into firewood. Looking at all those stumps in a wood lot you have cherished for years is nearly heartbreaking.
Sorry, didn't mean to take this thread off topic.

In reading your Profile it states you're in Michigan. Here are Michigan's rules. Transporting firewood has caused serious devastation to trees.

Let's not get off on a tangent folks. The subject is "how do you transport firewood?". This discussion is not about state rules regarding it.
