How Does This Rate Sound to You?

Potential new unit with just under $400,000 sales price. Have had three independent agencies quote it...all come back to Progressive (who I've been with for 6 years on my existing Class C) and my lowest premium is right at $3000 for full replacement value...and that's for a guesstimated 60-90 days use a year.

Any thoughts/comparisons?

Sounds good to me. I'm in NJ, which is more than AK, but my coach is worth a little less, and I am at $2850 with State Farm.

Our rig 2018 Road Warrior 5th wheel, we full time, have full timers' insurance, roof insurance, full replacement valve. We have upgraded the insurance to cover to cost of our solar system install, $25K. Our insurance cost is now around $3200/year.
Even with a claim of $11,500 in 2023, the cost has not increased. We have Progressive. But the cost of our set is only about $150K.

I'd confirm what "full replacement value" is.

If it accounts for depreciation the value is ~30% less after a year versus agreed value which stays at the price you paid until you change it.

I had agreed value on the original company I was insured with, $125K for quite a few years after we purchased our coach used. About 5 years ago when I went with a new company the agreed value was dropped to $58K, which made sense on a +12 year old coach at the time. I had to submit pictures and we came to the value. Last year I changed companies again and they agreed to keep the $58K value.

I went through the same process with my house insurance but the house insurance had an escalator built it to account for building costs.

You have a house with an escalator?

As it has been explained to me, you would receive a like current model replacement...not a used unit of similar make/model. And was also told that major insurance companies have more buying power than most anyone so they know what they're doing when acquiring a new unit for a claim. Thx for the thoughts.

In my opinion, that is a fair quote. Just read the fine print.

I have found that it matters a lot on where you store the coach. We haven’t had a rate increase from National General since we bought our coach, so rates don’t always increase.

Enjoy your new coach.

Impossible to say. Too many variables and never an apples-to-apples comparison to anyone else. Factors: where you live (zip code), crime rate, driving record, how it will be stored, miles per year, credit history, how you'll pay premiums (monthly or annually) ... Two guys living in the same town w/the exact same coach will have different rates based on their individualized variables.

Case in point: I've been paying considerably less than what you've been quoted going on 3 years w/Progressive (full replacement + roadside assist).

Good luck
