Contrary to what was said earlier, U.S. oil production is back to pre-pandemic levels, and the U.S. has remained a net energy exporter throughout the pandemic and up to now.

Gas prices are driven by the global price of oil.

Well, you picked the most expensive country in the US.

If Costco is an option, the one in Bakersfield was 4.15/US gallon, less 4% cash back. Otherwise, most Costco’s that carry diesel in the western states are around $3.50 and Texas is below $3.00. How do those prices convert?

I could have found you very nice ones for a lot less.

You're absolutely correct! Thank you!!

Folks need to look at past history of fuel prices. How soon they forget.

No need. We’ll stay in the coach. That was a once in a lifetime trip to help out a friend. And you can’t get a room at any price in Boise, when the rodeo is in town.

High prices won't affect us much. The DW and I have so many nice CG's here in Oregon that we don't need to travel all that far. The upside to high fuel prices is it may discourage others to not go camping. I would gladly pay $5 a gal to have better access to the CG's we camp at.
We're both retired so we don't go many places unless not camping. Our Camry gets 33+ mpg so we can fill it up and diddle and travel pretty far.

I wish I had your magic touch. Do you always win in Vegas, too?

We never knew where we would end the day. Once we had a rough idea, the search began. I’m pretty sure we checked every hotel from Boise to Nampa. When the only available room is $195, you take it. Maybe the last minute planing had something to do with it, or, I just don’t know the secret handshake.

I did manage to find a spot for January and February near Tucson with full hookups for $600/mo.
