Two scenarios involved here.
1. Going from A to Z. If it is a vacation driven by schedule and your driving to one place and staying at that place then we tend to do dead runs. On the road at 8 and sipping wine by 5:30.
2. Doing the whole alphabet. If your retired and just kind of seeing whats next then we tend to keep it between 50 to 250 miles per day MAX, but still sipping wine by 5:30.

Great replies, and pretty much what I figured - from one extreme to the other!
My RAM2500 should have no issues pulling the TT we purchased. I do plan on spending many hours in a large parking lot nearby practicing a myriad of required maneuvers before ever heading out to camp.
First few trips will be nearby state parks to serve as our "shakedown" trips. Then I see us doing an occasional point to point trip from north Georgia to places like Maine, Boston (daughter lives there), UP (based there for 2 years), etc. I think we'll do a combo of just getting from A to B and looking to stop at interesting spots enroute.

Working guy here, so vacation time is limited. I generally want to get where I'm going so that I have more time there. I try to keep it to 500-600 miles a day. I don't like being on the road for more than 12 hours. I really enjoy driving too, so those long drives are, for me, pleasurable.
What works for you, as an individual, is going to be highly dependent on your tolerances and circumstances.

We try to do 200 miles or 4 hours. Just depends on where the next stop is.

WE are working stiffs so we usually try to leave mid-afternoon first day of the trip and get 6 hours in. The next day we can usually get high 700 to (very) low 800's. By then we usually have a short drive to our first "destination".
That middle day of around 800 will take me a few days to recover from. Just tired. Of course the family is ready to rock and roll while I drag my rear end around.
We like the KOA "Journey's" because they are set up to just pull off the road, hook up and sleep and move along. Generally cheap with no thrills and everyone there is doing the same thing.
If I was retired, 400-500 would be my absolute max.

I’m 63. I prefer 350+/- miles. THBS in 2021, I have 1 day at 630 miles, a couple over 500 miles and several over 400 miles. The 630 was RGV to Baton Rouge vacating TX at the end of the deep freeze.

We try to keep it right around 300 miles. That's about 6-7 hours on the road, including rest stops and fuel.
Plus you get to the next stop with time to set everything up while there's still enough daylight and time to relax.

To get out of Southern California the first day, we often drive 450 -500 miles. If it's a long trip we'll set the rest of the driving to about 200 - 250 miles.

I feel pretty good at the end of 6 hours behind the wheel, but tired after 7. I'm 68 years old and retired.
West of the Missisipi river 6 hours equals about 350-375 miles, back East, more like 300.
Do what you're comfortable doing and not one minute more. Be safe and enjoy your time on the road. -Paul

I will be finding out what my limit is in four weeks.
Towing from Hollister ca. To Zion park to meet my son.
Going by myself because my wife has to work.
Have to figure out where to stop for rest on the way.
This will be my first long trip towing our trailer.

Remember the old Dr Pepper bottle? It had a marketing ploy of 10-2-4. Well, we're Dr Pepper travelers. We try to leave by the crack of 10, start looking for a place to stop at 2 and happy hour by 4. Our shortest day so far was 12 miles, longest just over 500 so it does vary a bit.

Congrats on your purchase!!
Everyone is different and there is no one size fits all driving plan. You'll get into your comfort zone and please don't push yourself, especially at night. You have an RV, pull over and get some comfortable rest.
Good luck !

That’s roughly a 650 mile trip. I’d plan two days that should make it fairly easy. Not sure what your rig is, but rest areas, truckstops, Walmarts, Cracker Barrels are all good spots to take a rest. Don’t forget, if you’re towing in California the double nickel is the limit.
