How much clothes do you bring

Question for those of you who have a separate washer and dryer .. how many changes of cloths do you take for a 3-4 month outing .. my thoughts are 7 to 10 days worth ... and as you get low .. do the laundry when you have sewer hook-ups so you don't over fill the gray tank .. am I not being realistic .. do you think more clothing is needed .. thanks glenn

That is what I am leaning towards .. we never had a washer and dryer in out last Adventurer so laundry had a tendency to pile up .. but now considering a new one with those appliances .. I think that will make the amount of clothing much less ... thanks for the replay ... glenn

We don't have a washer dryer, but every campground does. We just bring rolls of quarters. We are seldom in the campground since we spend days exploring the area. We have to force ourselves to do a down day at the campground to do laundry. We tend to put that off, but at some point, you have to.

As for clothes, it depends!

How long are you gone and what time of year is it?
In the spring and fall, it's the worse. You need shorts and tee shirts, sweats and sweatshirts, and jeans and flannel shirts with jackets. You never know what the weather is going to be, especially if you are covering several states.

We usually bring as much as we can and do laundry about every 3-4 weeks. You need lots of underwear to make it that long.

Just take what you think you will need. You will adjust as you go along. You can always buy souvenir tees, sweatshirts, hoodies, etc. along the way.

As I've read..... RV washers/dryers do smaller loads than you're used to and people seem to be always running them.

We carry about 7 days of clothing and 10 to 12 days of underwear and socks. and wash about 2 loads a week.

We don't have a washer or dryer either, but we can always find a laundromat or the campground facility. We plan a "down day" for general "chores" about every 6-8 days, so laundry, groceries, propane, etc is done on that day. We take enough clothing for about 10 days (you never know when something will happen and you need those extra clothes.)

Amen to that brother!

We're not even full-timers, but for some reason clothes just seem to collect in the motorhome. I bet half my socks are out there right now.

Time to cycle count my inventory.

If we're gone for a week, I bring about 8 days' worth of clothes. If we have full hookups, my wife may do a load the last night so we can take clean clothes in the house.

When we're gone for 4-8 weeks, I bring about 10 days' worth of clothing. We then do laundry about every ten days.

Since we are full timers, we carry all of our clothes (too much). We do sheets once per week and 4 or 5 other loads. The Splendide does a reasonable amount and uses about 8 gal per load. Seasonal clothes are stored under the bed.

I bring a week's worth of warm weather clothes and a week of cold weather clothes. I bring a set of dress clothes in case we want to go out to a fancy restaurant. I also have my running, biking, and paddleboarding clothes. We have a combo unit and I run it about every other day. My wife will use a park laundry for bigger items like sheets.

We have a combo Splendide and are gone for almost five months in the winter. As others noted, a week of shorts and t-shorts with maybe 10-12 days of underwear. One set of dress clothes for special occasions.

We do a load every couple of days because a combo can only be loaded 50% to leave enough room for the clothes to tumble.

I used to do the RV King sheets together but now I do the fitted sheet and top sheet separately.

We use the dryer portion every day for bath towels to keep from hanging wet towels from showering and the pool around the place.

Even though we pay for electricity during the winter stays it calcs to about $1 per load. Since we have to do smaller loads and thus more loads because we have a combo, it's a bit more expensive than using a laundromat. Last month the campground laundromat was $2 for a wash and $2 for drying but the loads are much larger and done faster. We've stayed at places that were $4 a load for each.

Not including the driving time, the sitting around time, and the going back and forth time because someone left their stuff unattended and no one else can use the machines, of course.

We figure it's about a "wash" with using the laundromat when gas and time are rationalized into the calculations.

Interestingly, many people say they love their RV because they have all of their own stuff including towels, sheets, and blankets, but they are perfectly willing to put their stuff in a washer where they have no idea what was washed in it recently.

The campground laundromat last month even had a sign telling people not to wash pet bedding for hygiene reasons, and to go to a commercial laundromat instead. Ummm, OK...

We would never have an RV without some kind of washer/dryer again.

Ray
