Inspection????

Ken L. I don't have any kind of inspection sticker on my trailer. Guess next time I'm out snooping around I'll check the new rigs on the lot and see if they have some sort of sticker.

We still have 'smog inspections' every other year for all motorized vehicles, but no inspection requirements for trailers of any kind after they've been licensed.

I will pre-inspect everything before going on a trip. Other than that, no one else has ever looked at any of our vehicles.

Here in the Denver area they only care about $$$$$$. As long as you pay your personnel property tax, your squirrel tax, granola head tax, oxygen tax, road tax, u make to much money tax, poor tax, tax on tax, the tax on the tax that u payed tax they are happy. As long as you give them money they will give you a plates for your vehicle...... OOPS, I almost forgot, You do need to have your vehicle smog tested. It doesn't matter how old the vehicle is or how bad the tires are as long as we don't make the granola heads breathe in dirty air.

Hey CyberVet65,

Don't know about TTs, but I'm in Front Royal and have to go to Shenandoah Ford in Winchester to get my RV inspected. Reines in Manassas also does inspections. Shenandoah Ford has a pull-through type of facility.

PhillyG,Where the heck is Front Royal???
Oh, yeah...turn left at Dinosaur Land and go south!
I wind up near there every week; I buy my diesel at Quarles. Almost as cheap as Flying J.
Now, Shenandoah Ford? Same as Winchester Ford on Valley Ave?

Had my 5er inspceted at the same place I get everything else checked. They didn't know what to inspect or where to apply the sticker. They took my $10.50. I looked at a lot of TT's and 5ers and am yet to see my first one that was inspected.

CyberVet65,

Duh, senior moment. I think Winchester Ford used to be called Shendandoah Ford some years ago, but maybe I'm wrong there, too. I should try to get it right, my brother a sells car there.

Has anybody thought about going to truck stops that have shops. Most of them have a person qualified to do state inspections. I realize for some of you that live in the larger cities this would be a problem, but if you plan a trip when your inspection is due just go by there on your way out.
In Texas they have to be licensed to inspect trailers, not just anybody can do it. There are only 2 places here in Big Spring that are licensed to inspect trailers, and our rv dealer is not one of them.
Cost here is $ 12.50 per vehicle. Trailers are same cost.

No vehicle inspections in Illinois.
Only periodic smog checks in some counties for vehicles over 2 or 3 years old. I don't know if motorhomes require smog check. I hope not, it will never fit in the drive-thru.

We have to get ours inspected yearly..in fact our appointment is tomorrow..but it's suppose to snow, so we'll be cancelling. We bring it to the Holiday dealer..our old one was done up the street at a small service station. That one was easy to pass..hit the brakes on the truck, and make sure they work..check out the running lights (sometimes on the old trailer we had to tap 'em to make 'em work!).
We have to have an inspection to reregister yearly..if we don't have it, they give us a 10 day permit. We get a stick on paper, just liek our car..but keep it in the glove department. They used to go in the window, but not anymore.

Smog inspection only here in Oregon every 2 years, but our diesel is exempt.

Ooops - should have said in our county (Jackson). Not every county in Oregon has I&M inspections.

I checked with the Texas DPS and was told that any licensed inspection station can and should inspect trailers. It's the law. Having said this I took my 5er to a Texaco station who inspects my autos and truck. He did it but didn't know what to inspect or where to apply the sticker. He insisted on seeing my insurance card until I told him that we do not get cards for trailers. He checked that out with someone and put the sticker on the trailer.

I have to repeat this this month.
