Huge, huge upgrade to make my rig more contemporary
I bought a 2008 Tiffin Phaeton with fluorescent 6"x18" fixtures. All the newer RVs have ceiling LED grids and spot lights so the fluorescents dated my Rig. The tubes had been replaced with LED tubes but the fixtures looked the same. I found some very upscale LED fixtures and replaced the fluorescents. The supplier Maple Grove RV in Everett, WA. They had three levels of the upgrade fixtures, $99, $199 and $299. I chose the middle level. Very simple to remove old fluorescents and very simple to install the LEDs. Huge improvement in appearance. I've decided now to add strip LEDs on the top of the slide molding with a switch under the cabinets. This will give me more light when I need it when cleaning. Huge, huge update to my rig.

Yes, they look great, but I do have one question.
Based on your photos, the amount of illumination appears to be much less with the new lights. Specifically, the difference between the top photo and the bottom photo is noticeable. Is this just a function of the camera, or do the new fixtures provide less light, overall? Whether or not this is and issue for you is another matter, I was just wondering if the photos reflected the true change in the amount of illumination.

Good question but LED lights are usually brighter than old lights and have a better color as well. I have never liked the old style lighting. Halogens are nice also but they are very hot and use lots of energy. I like this modification this guy has done.

I think I've found the answer on the website he linked.
These fixtures are advertised as "Accent and task lighting" fixtures. The accent part is the ceiling halo, which only indirectly lights the room, and the task part are the two spots at the bottom. In short, they are not meant to be full room lights like the ones replaced. With that in mind, they are very attractive and add tremendously to his interior look. Anyone else considering such a change, however, should be aware that they will not have the same overall amount of light within the room.
