Hi all
I was just wondering if anyone tries hypermiling with a RV. I heard about people doing it with cars. If you did could you share the info.

Hypermiling is driving the auto to extend the fule economy a certain amount over the manufacturers claims. If basically is driving like you are on the high side of 80 years old.

Hypermiling is driving very slow, not using brakes on curves, turning engine off at traffic lights, going through red lights when there is no traffic following close behind trucks ect ect......
sounds to me like a dangerous practise.

Hypermiling can be very dangerous for the driver who is not the hypermiler.
Some of them will come within 2-3 feet of the rear of your car/RV and try to stay in your slipstream. That way you are really pulling him down the road.
As far as going very slow that's only getting the car back up to speed.
As far as driving as if you have no brakes that is the way we should be driving by staying far enough behind someone that we can slow down without slaming the brakes on.
Remember the speed sign on highways have 2 speeds posted the upper limit and the lower limit [minimum]. Fine your best speed and have a save trip.

Just about every interstate, controlled access road and many major bridges have a minimum speed posted.

On sections of I-10 and I-20 in West Texas:
Obviously, hypermiling was not a high priority here.

Must be an East coast thing. I don't recall seeing any on the Left coast.
