I don’t even know what to think
Folks staying a couple of sites down and across from us in a light, single-slide travel trailer. Not a hybrid. Noticed yesterday several times that the slide was sometimes in and sometimes out. This morning while savoring my coffee, I watched the lady head to the truck with her purse. Seconds later the slide started in. Once it was in, the guy headed for the truck. Wondered if they were ready to hook up and leave, but they drove away. Came back a few minutes ago with groceries and the slide came back out.
Bluebird skies without a chance of rain. It seems they are under the impression that the slide needs to be in when they are away for some reason. I’m torn between wanting to tell them they are wasting time and putting wear and tear on their slide mechanism for no reason, and butting out. I always lean toward butting out.
But I’ll cringe a little every time I see them open and close the slide while we are neighbors.

I would go over and introduce myself, then mention that you are just curious about the slide operation. If they are new I'm sure they will appreciate your advice!

It's their rig and it's none of your business you know nothing about them ! This may be their 20 th rig as far as you know ! Leave it alone ! Nothing for you to gain from it ! What would you say if he came over and told you that you were not putting you slides in and out the wrong way ! Now if he comes and ask you for advice that's another story !

I would probably go over and ask if it was a noisy slide that woke me from a nap. Otherwise, nah,, don't care, none of my beezwax.

Unless I see something that might endanger them or others I would mind my own business.

They like exercising their slideout,,,,,,
Who cares. It's isn't dangerous, causing harm and it's what they do.
Now if they drove off with in extended I would holler,,,,,otherwise NOMB

They are neighbors. Be neighborly and introduce yourself. You never know what will come up in conversation.

I vote for introductions and mentioning the slide as a side note.
If they get rude or gesture to you in an unkind way, at least you tried.
Most times peeps will be OK with you asking.
My 2 pennies.

I agree. Nothing wrong with asking a friendly question out of curiosity. But care should be taken about offering that they are doing something wrong. Probably best to leave that aspect alone altogether.

Right.
Build a friendly rapport first with waves and hellos.
Maybe talk about a problem your having yourself, then phrase the question about the slide-out in a "I'm still learning myself" kinda way.

Their rig, their business. That said it could be an awkward conversation if you were to get involved. So many people take offense anymore about the smallest things.
You could ask them if they are on IRV2. If they are they may see this, if not they can learn a lot here.

People do stupid things all the time, all day long. That's part of camping, watching them do stupid things.

Maybe they are confused by the terms "awning" and "slide awning" thinking they should bring the slide "awning" in in case wind gets up while they are away?
