We stayed at Isletta Lakes just last Mar, (this year), unsafe, bad neighborhood? I never felt it was a bad neighborhood, nor unsafe. You do have to go by the guard gate to get in the park, and be sure to take the receipt with you when you leave, you might not get back in!

We paid for two nights and got one night free! Can't beat that! And, we are NOT rich by any means! All through our trip, we never paid $50-$60 a night, never. Research, research, research. Camping World had Passport America books for $6.99. Well worth the cost. Paid for its self the first night! Can't beat that.

Just my $.02 worth

Don't know whether to add more fuel to the fire or not...We are leaving HOT AZ for the summer, staying in Taos, NM for a month, in South Forks, CO for a month and many places in between. We are never paying more than $600 a month for a site and never more than $30 a night for in between places. You must be looking at all the deluxe, fancy places. And everywhere we are staying is full hook-up. We have dogs and have to have AC. And we pay $35 a month for storage when not RVing...it's a gravel storage place behind a feed store... You must be looking in all the wrong places.

True, when we fulltimed a few year back we never spent more than $400 a month...but those days are gone.

I found one for $325 a month but they wanted long term at least 6 months. But not much else available, they exist but not available. So its not that i can find some of them, the availability is awefull... lol

Isletta RV park is a bit of a cacoon from your suroundings, so i would not go walking to the gas station there or the casino. You have the reservation behind you (southwest), north of that on broadway is the industrial area and the south part of town which is where alot of the gangs are. Actually there are alot of gangs everywhere in Albuquerque, but the south and west sides of town are the worst. We are the number 1 car theft city in the US.

So yes Isletta campground is very nice as is the Casino close by. I helped to pour some of the concrete there when they were building/remodeling it. But all around you there is not good.

We spent 2 weeks due to a breakdown in Mountain Home, ID for about $28/day weekly rate at Mountain Home RV Park which is one of the nicest places I've stayed. There were folks who stayed there year round judging by the skirting on some RVs. You live in an area that has great access to Bureau of Land Mgt (BLM) and other camping. I don't know why you would stay in high dollar campgrounds. For the summer months, I would look for places at higher altitude for the cooler temps.
Also, many self storage places also store RVs.

Here in AZ BLM land and Forest Service land is free for 15 days. It sounds like you want to be near all the attractions too, we want to get away from all the bustle. Just saying...... Research is your friend. In Flagstaff there is an area call Cinders. It's open and quite during the night hours but tends to have ATV, UTV and motorcycles during the day. It is the time of the year it stays cool as compared to Phoenix. But..... you can find quite times/places to camp and it is free also. No hook ups.

State Parks with campgrounds let you stay overnight for a price. I guessed they meant that technically, most state parks do not allow that because by sheer number, most state parks overall do not have campgrounds. Majority are day use or small parks and then a chunk of them have campgrounds.

And you don't want to try and save money in ABQ in fall around the Balloon Festival. Then it goes crazy with demand and prices.

You said you're on disability.... are you aware that there's a 'Access Pass' you can get free that will give you 1/2 off camping in national public parks just like the 'Senior Pass'. The 'Access Pass' is available for any age, not just seniors.

Get it and go up to Cochiti Lake Corp of Engineers park for a couple weeks to test your RV out.

We finished a 3 month trek from Florida to Arizona along the gulf for much of it. Stayed mostly in state parks (for 3-8 days each time) and some RV parks as well as National parks. We probably averaged somewhere around $25 a night and we had some wonderful campsites.

We are about to start a 4 month trip in the Rockies and then back to Florida. Again we are going to keep costs to $25 or so a night.

Within a year we will be full time and certainly are not rich

Kiva RV and Horse Motel at Bosque down by Bernardo is just $310 a month. We stayed a night there on the way home in late March and it was fine. 52 miles to Albuquerque.

This depends on your type of disability, but you can consider workamping too. We are currently staying for three months at Cave Country RV in Kentucky, for free. Yes for free, in exchange for working just 3-4 days per week. "We" are actually a single worker, because I run a business from the RV, so my wife is the one actually workamping. She runs the desk, cleans the bathrooms, and other stuff to keep the campground humming along.

Three months free, balances out the previous four months of mostly state/county parks. Our average nightly rate from November-June will be $15. And we aren't being particularly picky. Once we get out west, we'll be able to boondock more and I expect our rate might even dip a little. We could really drop it even further if we workamped more, but we like to move too.

You need a tool to help yourself to the best places that fit.
Allstays. It's the ap that can do that for you. To me, it is the Answer!

Thanks for the links... yeah ill have to learn to use all these APs. I never really used by cell phone for anything other than just to call in an emergency. I dont usually even take it with me when i leave the truck and i never used APs before so ill have to learn and get used to doing that to make this easier
