Impolite Truck Drivers

Stopped at the T/A in Coburg, Oregon (basicallyEugene) for fuel. There were 5 fuel lanes, all full, and more people coming. Lanes to the left of me had two trucks, bumper to bumper that sat there for 15 minutes after fueling before they moved. The idiot in front if me must hav3 washed the entire front of his cab and finally pulled up giving me enough room to pull to the pump. Used my fuel card, and was ready ti go, and the truck was still blocking me. Finally figured out that the clown pulled up, shut the truck off, and went into the store to do some shopping and spent the next 10 - 15 minutes in there before staff could find him to clear the lane. And there were all kinds of open parking spots in front of the pumps. Seems there are nit that many courteous truckers out there anymore!

Have seen this before. Many of the truckers don't really want us rvs there, using their lanes. Our timing at the pumps is different. We use the pumps(diesel and DEF) and then move out. They need to use the facilities, grab a bite to eat and such. Yes, they could pull out and park elsewhere, but their timing normally fits other truck drivers. We need to be patient, and help them underetand the truck driver needs are different than RV needs and timing.. Pump owners will usually side with truckers, much bigger part of their business in volume.

See this all the time at regular gas stations. People pull up to a pump, go into the store, get some junk, then fuel up. Or the other way around. It’s not just truckers.

We had a woman block us in (toad connected)with her SUV, get out and lock it and go into the store. After about 20 min she finally came out, got in with her bag of stuff and drove away without even buying fuel.

Had this also. Just wanted to park their car under a patio so the sun would not heat it up.

Human decency while traveling is rare these days, it has been replaced with ignorance and selfishness, I see it all the time. The level of intelligence has declined and disrespect is on the rise, this can be witnessed at any gas station you visit and yes Truckers are at the top of the list, both at the pump and over the road.

It's not only truckers it's just about 99% of people...it's all about number 1...this is the reason I quit stopping at Buc-ee's.

Truckers have to strictly follow the laws now. They are all tracked electronically.

I think that is part of it.

I have noticed that a lot of truckers seem to be taking more time at the pump and after they pull forward.

I assume that the time spend at the pump counts as a mandatory break if it is a certain number of minutes long.

Go to YouTube and do a search on Bonehead Truckers. Even truckers hate these truckers.

Yes, it's happened to me, get stuck waiting and with a toad not much you can do. I have learned to leave a little extra room behind a truck fueling just in case there is an opening on the left or right so I can go there.

But I do try to do the right thing by quickly fueling and if I have to go back in to get a receipt I pull forward open up the fuel bay for the trucks.

Knowing the truckers are under a lot of scrutiny I try to give them a break.

I have had really great experiences at the truckers pumps, and one really bad one. The good ones were drivers that pointed out the broken window squeegee. The driver who found the driver of the rig blocking me. The driver that directed me as I was squeezing out of the pumps. They driver that waved me in front of him in line. I only hold 25 gallons so I'm in and out in a few minutes

On the bad side was the driver who actually tried to hit the RV, because he thought I was heading to the handicap truck parking spot. I wasn't, just stopping to close a cabinet door.

On the road I have encountered many dangerous drivers. The most noted ones were contract haulers pulling Amazon trailers across the mid-west. Speeding and changing lanes like they were sports cars.

My non scientific observation is that the trucks with the individual owners name on the side tend to be more courteous; at least while on the road (like John & Mabel trucking LLC leased to XXX). Since it's their own $100,000+ or so tied up in the truck, they are not as likely to risk it.

No excuses for it, electronic logs and such do not matter. I drove for years, I was happy when my company put fuel pumps in at their terminals and no longer had to fuel at truck stops. I've been blocked in the fuel pumps by the jerks and could not get out.

bonehaed truckers

It's a real problem . Propagated by the types of individuals that are holding the steering wheels.

Without getting political, CDL laws were changed. Actions have reactions, and consequences.

Non Domicile CDL

CDL drivers are supposed to be able to read and understand the English language, used to be an out of service violation by DOT. No longer enforced, now a citation......Can read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records;
