In Ma. we have an excise tax and it's $25 per $1000 valuation . Bought coach new in 9/07 and for those 3 months was 1200. then for 08 was 1800 ,09 1550 and just paid this years was 900. We have this tax for evey thing that has tags on it , including my 1981 utility trailer!

My borther-in-law, an Indiana resident, said the new law decreased the tax on his 2003 Winnebago Journey by several hundred dollars. He is happy the new law passed.

Those are some pretty high taxes... we have to pay 6.25% sales tax and an annual fee but no property or excise tax after the purchase in Texas... thank goodness... because property taxes on everything else is so expensive...no income tax though...
