Thank you gents for the feedback and info. Ballpark for "me" to do it:

Magnets $150
Fabric and binding $100
Sewing (if my machine will not handle the fabric) $100

Total : $350

Current Magnashade knocking on $700 with tax + installation $100-150

(I live near the Magnashade plant in Mocksville so would have them install)

Their product would certainly look better than mine.

Probably not worth doing myself.

That leaves the question of what do I see as the pro's and cons with Magnashade.

Pros for me:
1. Reduced heat transfer.
2. Privacy with the ability to see out.
3. Reduced overhead AC noise.

Cons for me:
1. Putting up and down, cleaning, storing.

At this point I will probably add a third roof AC and skip the Magnashade hassles. (Have done this on previous RV)

Thanks again for all your feedback.

You should call the manufacturer. They are the only ones who can give you an honest answer.

Once I ordered mine it was here in about 7 days. The installation went very easy with my wife and I doing it. Good luck.

I think the loose magnets get glued onto the inside of the windshield. The ones on the outside are sewn into the shade itself and you push it into position with a stick while positioning the ones inside. Once you have it positioned, you glue them down.

I'd really love one, but I've got lots of other >$600 projects to finish first!

The Magnashade website says 5-7 weeks. Maybe Covid slowed them down.

I had MagneShade on my 2015 40' Newmar and think I paid more than $1,000 for front, sides, wipers and mirror covers.
I am considering Sunguard for a 2021 Entegra Emblem 36H that I expect to take in delivery at the end of this month. I've asked about lead time to order but have not heard back as of yet. I will call them this coming week.

Here's a link to the product: https://rvtoystore.com/

Thanks Len, looks like they are installed on the inside of the windshield via suction cups.

The heavy duty version is installed with snaps or twist locks on the exterior.

Changed my mind again and decided to give a try at DIY shade.
Was able to sew with my machine. Total cost was $181:

Nice job. What did you use for material? That doesn't look like textilene?

Source for Magnets

FYI, if you know the size and shape of the magnets you need, you'll definitely find them at https://www.kjmagnetics.com/

They have LOTS of magnets in just about any configuration you can think of.
