Installing ceiling fan

I want to install a 12volt ceiling fan in the bedroom of our motorhome. I can find the metal cross brace but wonder if a support block is also needed. My problem is that the ceiling panels cannot be easily removed now due to cabinets. Behind the ceiling panel is only styrofoam and eventually the wood roof support.

My plan at the moment is to determine the best location after finding braces and a/c ducts, etc and then cutting a small opening in the panel that would be covered by the fan eventually, and insert a block if needed and screw/glue it in place after removing some styrofoam.

Has anyone installed one of these and knows exactly how they attach to the ceiling?

Yes, I have both the 12 volt ceiling fan & the 110 (outlet) ceiling fan in the MC & 5th wheel. They are light weight & can be placed anywhere with a c-hook.

Our Tuscany came with a two speed 12v ceiling fan in the bedroom. The ceiling hugger type

Don't have the drawing of what or how it is attached but apparently very well as on issues and the same goes back when we had the installed fans in the 5th wheels

good luck

Make sure your ceiling is high enough so if you bounce up in bed your head won't go into the fan!

I installed the following ceiling fan in our RV (they have a larger size if you can fit it).

https://www.rvandmarine.com/product/...v-ceiling-fan/

Our RV had a ceiling light, so it was a simple job to replace the light with this fan. I did have to make a wooden plate to cover the opening left by the light which I then mounted the fan to. This unit is controlled by the remote, so no additional wiring was needed, I just leave the light switch on. If you have a bedroom slide, make sure you have the required clearance when the slide is in.

The DW didn't like that we no longer had any ceiling lights, so I added these on either side by tapping into the fan wiring.

So, I always leave the wall switch on, control the fan by the remote, and turn the ceiling lights on manually when needed.
