I think we should have a topic just for insurance coverage since it is such an important expense of rving. I am in the middle of an insurance claim presently with Safeco Insurance. So far no problems, but I would like to see everyone elses experiences with the different companies.
In my incident, we were hit by a dump truck in SC on August 25, 2015. Camping World says it is totalled. We have replacement cost i surance with Safeco. I will let you know the outcome and how we were treated by Safeco.

I have American Family. Only claims I have had to do were for Emergency Roadside Service. We had to get towed 2 times. One of the times it was a $1400 towing charge. They paid without even questioning.The 3rd party company the use was responsive and easy to work with.

We talked to the Safeco rep today. He says that Tony's RV near Columbia, SC says they can repair the motorhome. Apparently he is in the process of getting repair and parts figures. My issue is that the motorhome is only 6 months old and under warranty. We are losing that portion of coverage.

Also the payments go on and I get no use of the vehicle. Has anyone else had this experience? How did you handle it? I believe it is important to let other rvers know what their experience could be in this situation. Our accident occurred on August 25, 2015. I am going through so much stress about the whole issue, that I just wish they would total it so we can move on. It is, after all, our Golden Years.

So you have loss of use coverage? Don't forget diminish value, you should get a big check.

I hear Loss of Value would be a big item if they insist on repairing it instead if totalling it. It couldn't be sold for what it could before the accident. Who wants to buy a unit that has been wrecked? I surely wouldn't.

We have replacement cost but Safeco says the repair cost has to be 75% of the replacement cost. Tony's gave an estimate of $28,000 but we are not happy with it. It says nothing about the mechanical f frame, etc. no one has jacked it up to look. He did his whole estimate on replacing decals, etc. Camping World says it cannot be fixed for that amount. I believe Tony is giving a low estimate and then will find other stuff to add later. It says he can do that on the estimate sheet. Also he wants to repkace only half of the covering on the outside and put a seam down it. That is unacceptable to me . If I wanted something used, I would have bought used. The agent couldn't tell me how long it would take either. Problem is that we are home in Florida and the rv is in SC.
