When a tree tipped over and totaled our rig in the Ocala area:
RIGHT BETWEEN THE FAN BLADES
GUESS WE CAN REACH THOSE CUPBOARDS NOW
NOTE THE BRANCH STICKING IN THE ENTRANCE DOOR
The woman we reported it to, located in Tallahassee, insisted that we tow it to a dealer to be appraised. Explaining again that the trailer was pinned to the ground by a huge tree with limbs through the roof and one of the slides she asked “what’s a slide”. She then explained that they had no one to respond to the campground so I would have to send pictures and she would attempt to determine the damages form them.
A call to their HQ’s resulted in a return can from the woman, now very short and curt, stating she would attempt to get someone to us.
Having not heard back form her by the next afternoon I called her and learned that a man from Orlando had to attend a meeting on Ocala in two days and he would stop by on his way home. She further explained that his area of expertise was automobile accidents but felt sure he could appraise an RV.
To keep this from getting any longer, three weeks later, after a round trip to Jacksonville to speak to someone in person we received our check, got our new rig and headed home.
All the way I kept saying over and over, RV insurance through Good Sam and they don’t have an appraiser in Florida during the winter.
On arrival in CNY the second thing I did was cancel them, the first was open the front door of the stick house.
