Intellitec Model 750 EMS Contol Failure

The coach took a lighting hit / power surge and now the Intellitec Model 750 EMS has failed. The 50 amp breaker at the pedestal tripped. For now I have by passed what I needed, one AC / heat pump and the hot water heater. It time for manual power management.

Question: Where can I find a replacement or do I have to sent it to Intellitec for repair? The in service model was a 00-00683 and a 00-00684 will work..

The rest of the coach is OK. I just lost a computer monitor so I was lucky as was my neighbor. His 30 amp breaker tripped.

And yes a surge protector would have helped.. GROAN ! !

Thanks for any suggestions & help,

Dick

Welcome to the forum Dick... I only wish it were under better circumstances. I don't have an answer on where to get a replacement but I'm sure experts will chime in.

Last month we had a rather long thread on surge protectors and some were saying they had never really known of damage caused to a coach by lightning and that surge protectors were a waste of money. Now we've got evidence I guess.

Best of luck...

Rick

Dick,
If you call Intelitec they will refer you to a "fee based" tech. They charge by the minute for tech help.
I would suggest you pull the control board and get all the numbers from it. Then call perhaps RV Upgrades, a site sponsor or you could call LIchtsinn if you have a Winnebago product. Consider replacing the entire system and not just the control board.
Good luck

Dick: Welcome to iRV2.com! I, too, wish it were under better circumstances.

R&K Products has a good listing of replacement Intellitec boards, I'd give them a call if only the PC board is bad. This board may be the replacement you need.

You should be able to inspect the system, removing breakers (with all power off, of course) to inspect the load center distribution panel to see if it needs replacement.

Replacing the PC board is relatively simple, but replacing the whole load center is not, lots of wiring to remove and replace.

Also keep in mind that the surge may have traveled to the display and taken it out, too. Removing and inspecting it may not be a bad idea, too.

The only other active part of the center is the current sensor, if you need to replace that plus the display and the PC board you might be better off ordering one of these, some cables are also be provided to replace any that were destroyed.

Good Luck!

Rick, Kix and Stewart,

Thanks for your comments.. I did call Intelitec and yes pay for support.. which for me is not necessary. Among other things, I'm a tech. As most of us, I am continuing to learn about my home on wheels..

A surge protector would have stopped this minor hit, I sure.. on the list to install before next summer.

The power distribution panel is good as well as all the breakers and wiring. The 00-00683 control board is out and needs to be replaced. This is what I will be looking to replace. As I wrote, I was fortunate that was the only thing gone bad.

I bought a Intelletec BCC board from R&K and it arrived promptly and exactly as advertised. Good price too.
