Inverters

I haven't figured out how to search the forems yet, so hope this is
not in another area.
I have several low wattage 110v appliances and no generator.
Generators are just too loud and another thing to fix or repair.

I had a 1000 wt (1500 surge) inverter that no longer works
Installing a 650 wt heater element in my hot water heater next week to give us instant hot water (pink antifreeze) if we need it.
WE use our RV year around, but don't stay all night. Also,
TV is only 110 volt and 150 wts so again using the inverter.
I am doubling up on my storage batteries with a switch if we are sitting
in case a battery runs low.
Next year I will run a 6k roof air unit that takes 600watts
Has anyone ran into a higher wattage inverter and possibly using one?

Please advise

Thanks
Don

It's not really very practical to run a 650 watt heater off an inverter - you will need a lot of batteries. 650 watts/12v = 54.2 amps, so a typical group 24 12v battery (85 amp-hours) will run the heater for only about 1.5 hours. Most anything that generates heat electrically is a huge power draw on an inverter. Likewise for a compressor, i.e. the air conditioner.

Yu need to add up the watts (or amps) used by each electrical appliance and calculate how many battery amps you need between opportunities to recharge them.

By the way, without a generator, how do you recharge? Solar?
