Bill, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for starting this website and working diligently to keep it the very best RV enthusiast website on the internet. I have learned so much from it, you have no idea. The wife and I went full time 6.5 years ago and we have had a great time all due to the info we got through this forum. Without it we would have made many mistakes and probably thrown in the towel. We will surely miss you being there keeping us straight and providing for us this media. I wish the very best for you and your family in the future and hope to camp with you again before too long. Take care and stay in touch.

Hi guys,
I have been a member here but haven't posted (or visited much in a while )

I "work" (as a moderator) for Andy on another forum. You should be happy with what he does for forums. It is nothing short of amazing how things come together. And his dedication to them is outstanding.

Bill,
Thank you for a job well done. While you have established the foundation that will insure success for iRV2, you also provided us with an avenue to better our experience as RV'ers.

All due respect to the outgoing and the incoming --- I wish the best to each of you. I don't personally know you and don't have any individual history with you.

I've found iRV2 to be typically informative, generally civil and often fun. I'm so impressed I've even made two quick donations over about three years --- nothing I've ever done for any other forum to which I belong.

Perhaps I'm just very naive, but now I discover the "owner" has "sold," presumably for capital gain, this forum. Am I alone in wondering if my "contributions," however paltry, are being made for the benefit of all of the many "members" or for the few "owners?"

No disrespect meant here --- I've never founded or attempted to operate such a forum, but I really had a mental picture of an owner, at least one seeking donations, making personal sacrifice and chunking in their own money to hold a rag-tag forum together.

Is my illusion shattered? Have I contributed, much like paying taxes, to someone's personal gain? I hope not - I like this place. If I didn't, no contributions would ever have been made.

Again, with all due respect.

Warren & Debbie, none taken. Unfortunately, you will not see me sitting back financially fat and happy from this transaction. For me iRV2 was never about the potential of making money, which as the site has grown became more and more of an issue. Each year the expense out of my pocket grew to a point where I ended up having to bring on a partner to share in the burden. And although few and far between the contributions from you and other members where greatly appreciated and always used to defray some of that expense on us the owners. I can assure you the money I as well as Bob received for our interest in iRV2 did not even come close to covering what we put into it. Having never met me I would assume it maybe difficult to just take my written word it, if you have further questions please email me and I can give you additional details.

Thanks for the reply, Bill . . . and I appreciate your explanation. Makes me feel my little donations were for the common good.

Also, thanks for your efforts --- this really is a gem among some other pretty rough stones. Nice place.

Okay, since Bill answered all his questions appropriately, now it's time to put Andy on the 'hot seat'!

Like MonacoMama, it did some snooping too. As an internet geek, first thing I did was to 'google' Andy's name and see his public profile. Although seemingly a little younger than your typical RVer, he definitely has the credentials and business model to take iRV2 to the next level - wherever that is...

So, drum roll please,

Andy -
1. Do you own a RV?
2. Do you go camping or take RV-based vacations?
3. I see from one of your sites that you have traveled extensively all over the world. What is your favorite destination in the USA?
4. Any hint on what the future plans are for iRV2?

Although a relative newbe to this forum, I have found that it is an active and welcoming community with a ton of RV knowledge.

So welcome aboard and, like all RVers, I am ALWAYS willing to help out (even when not asked) and ALWAYS willing to give an honest opinion (again even when not asked)!

Guys, Thanks to Bill and others, in the assistance for several important problems I have had answerd from the members of this site. The RV community is very close, but the members in this forum I beleive are more like family. This site has quickly become an important daily source of info.

Andy, Welcome and best of luck!

Thank you for taking on this responsibility.

Bobby

Warren, when Bob put up the announcement regarding selling his share I contacted him, as I had interest as a possible investment. He sent me a prospectus and we discussed the donation issues. Please be assured that at the price we discussed the money was a break even item. I don't think either owner will be filing a profit with the IRS. Until the day it sold they were taking cash out of their pockets to support the site. I'm sure someday, possibly soon, with an experienced forum operator it will become profitable site. IMHO
