Is anyone else noticing this?? RV's for sale.

Ok I do a fair amount of driving / riding. Business and pleasure. Im noticing what SEEMS like more and more RV's for sale in peoples driveways, along road sides, etc. Is what many (myself included) have predicted starting to materialize? Am I wrong, or perhaps just coincidence? Just a phenomenon happening in the Lancaster / Penna, and Md. area? Im curious if anyone else is noticing an increase in private RV sales.

Oh, they're ALL for sale.

No, can't say as I've noticed any such thing and we're not far from that area.

That love affair at the RV show is over. First trip out frustration tales and disasters are everywhere on the forums. It's happening here in NC as well.

(from the op) We've owned a motorhome since the mid 80's. Im certain all experienced "campers" out there know too well- doing this for the long haul takes commitment. The list of negatives goes on and on but lets face it as long as the positive aspects outweigh the negative we'll keep on going. I know a middle aged couple who bought, with cash, a really nice 5'er. Used it once or twice. After finding out the headaches involved they sold it. It will be interesting to see how this will play out but it just seems to me there will be lots of good deals out there in 1 to 3 years. And yes I do realize I could be wrong!

I'm going to wait a bit longer before decided if the bubble has burst. In particular how difficult getting a camp site next summer will be. If fuel cost stay elevated that should help weed out the fence sitters also.

Yes, the peak may have passed.

But, here's something that would stimulate private sales, but indicate the peak is not yet here: Supposed you had an old RV out back, one that you haven't used in years. You find out that there's a hot market in used RV sales. You haul the old rig to the front of the property, slap a "For Sale" sign on it, and wait for the cash offer to drive into the driveway.

I ordinarily would dismiss this as unlikely, but I've noticed the number of recent iRV2 threads that begin: "I just bought a 1982 (fill in the blank). I know nothing about RVs." That would match the seller scenario I describe above.

Yup, there's an unanswered post now about buying an RV sight unseen in Florida. The owner got to GA when green antifreeze began coming out the tailpipe.

I agree. RV sales right now are like home sales. People are snapping them up. I think that once the newbies realize it’s not ALL fun and games, along with >$4 per gallon fuel, we’ll see a bunch more “for sale” signs. It’ll change from a seller’s to a buyer’s market. Then a bunch of those RVs will move from the front of the property to the backyards…

IMHO, it is no different than the "backflash" tide of now unwanted new dogs and cats that people went out and snapped up as a stay-at-home companion in the early days of lockdown. Now they can go out and party again in public, and no longer want to deal with fido, and all that goes with being a fur-baby parent. People really do expect you to pick up your dog's poop! The local ASPCA shelter has now stopped accepting any new drop-offs, as they are doubled up and over-capacity in return animals.

Sad, but I guess we should expect no less from this current crop of self-absorbed self centered idiots out there.

As far as I am concerned no more than usual. I sometimes have seen one or two for sale as we travel. But I have seen that since 2007, when we started back RVING after a10 year break.

What I have notice in my area are a lot more commercial storage lots for RV's to be stored in. In my little village there is at least 10 storage lots in a 1/2hour drive which are almost full with RVs in them.

A lot of sales are delayed because people are so far used down even in this inflated market. When the overly enthusiastic new to RV buyer rolls full MSRP, TTRL, ESP, and supplies into their purchase then looks around, they haven't yet got to the point of real pain. When, not if, the bubble pops, maybe sags, that might get more on the market out of fear prices will collapse completely. Meanwhile they'll make a payment with the mistaken idea prices will continue to rise on used units.

Right now you can easily get 20% off on many units but you have to shop. If you paid MSRP like many did, you'll never really see the light of day on the loan.

Don't see much private sales going on around our area
CGs are FULL though and RV sales lots are still moving inventory
