I have only had one friend buy through carmax. Got a really nice 4 door chevy p/u. He really enjoyed the experience and felt that he got a good deal. good luck in your search.

Dealer told me it has 150,000 miles on the truck and has no salvage title.

Tough call....I would get a total inspection done on the truck. There are services that do inspections ($150-$350)

If cared for the heart of the engine will go 250,000 mi or more but expect many of the external components to start failing soon. I have an 08 F-250 with 45,000 mi that's the best truck I've ever owned.

Found out from the dealer the truck needed alot of work before they could sell it so I just pasted on it. Dealer did all the repairs on the engine.

CarMax generally does a very good job. They are generally pretty picky about what they will put on their lots.

Prices there are usually a little higher, but not always. Each outlet gets to price the cars how they want. As always, in order to recognize a "deal" you have to know the market well.

Or, you can just not sweat it, go to CarMax, have a pleasant experience, get a good car, and get on with your life. That's their appeal, and they're good at it.

That said, imo used trucks are somewhat of a crapshoot because, unless they are near-new, it seems like most are run hard and put away wet, have a zillion miles, or are modded. I wouldn't want any of that. Me, I'd rather have a new truck and a used trailer than the other way around, but I realize sometimes the resources just aren't there.
