I agree with the above statement. When the software changed, I could not even log in......... I had to change my ID and Password. I had been around here for several years. I find it harder to view all the postings, and the software runs too slow on my computer. It is this way on my Verizon aircard and at home on the high speed system.
I'll continue to look, but not as often as before. It is just not user friendly!!

This is a good thing, to some extent. Hopefully it says that folks are searching and finding their answers and solving their own problems!
Some boards I am on are annoying because some folks don't search, or don't know how, then the normal suspects come in and flame that person for not searching... and the thread goes "pearshaped" in a hurry.
Performance for me is great (comcast DSL, Firefox) no issues with popups, even with the right hand column enabled. Ads pay the bills folks!

And that's a big problem with me. Just because someone isn't as search savvy as the next is no reason to get smart about it. Plus if a new discussion is started I might have something to add that is new or different or there's a new product that wasn't around a year or two ago when this was last discussed with permission from the watchdogs. (I know you're watching, don't get your shorts in a bunch.)
Fact is if you don't like it why read it? Does it really waste that much bandwidth? Does it cost you extra when a topic that was discussed six months ago comes up?
Fact is if someone gets on a forum, asks a question that didn't pop up in a search, then gets flamed for it, they leave. I've been an admin on boards before and emailed those that disappear about why, and that's the main reason.

To be helpful to new members and RVers, it is nice to do a quick search and then post the link to the search or a topic or two discussing his issue. Remember that we were all new to the forums and RVing at some time in the past.

I, for one, have had much trouble with the Search feature with this new software. It does not seem to find the specific threads like the old software used to. Maybe I'm wording the Search box wrong or don't know how to phrase the words correctly using the Search (or can't remember the right terms to use to begin with), but I've found it very frustrating to search for a thread or topic I know was previously discussed.
I know it's a PITA for some to see the same questions pop up again & again, but, when I get frustrated trying to find an answer using the Search software (& I DO at least give it a shot), I just ask again & someone either answers me or finds & posts the link to the previous discussion I was searching for to begin with. I don't think I've ever been "spanked" for not using the Search first.

Trends in forums are up and down. That is the way the net is... I was getting >8,000,000 unique IP hits per month, about 2 years ago, down to ~6 mil. now. It fluctuates... More and more sites come online, and more and more people leave the tech type forums for the social networking types...
The problem with vB hacks is that they have to be redone everytime that you do an upgrade... It gets rather time consuming...
Searching is an art. It doesn't matter if it is a site or the www. It is all about how you search...
searching the internet - Google Search
You will find some great info in these links on understanding the way search works...

I have surfed other RV Forums and did not join because I saw messages telling people to search first as that subject was covered x amount of months ago.
I have my first TT and do not know the proper words for different things. Therefore, I am not going to find it on a search and need to ask. I don't need to be made to feel stupid for asking and not knowing the "correct" term.
That is why I joined this Forum. I never saw those messages and if it was a subject covered, people kindly provided a link to the previous thread. That is really cool! At no time has anyone treated me with anything less than respect.
Sheila :)

We try to impress on everyone that at one time they were a beginner at RVing and had lots of questions. To get someone pointed in the right direction, I prefer to post a link to the thread with the information they can help.

I enjoy it as much as I always have. I try to check it out at least once a day. The new software has been no problem.

Hey everybody, this thread has been going on for a while. iRV2 is not on the decline, we are growing as fast as ever. Since this thread was started there have been nearly 40,000 new posts and we have added 3,000 new members! No small feat, we should all be proud of being part of such a nice & respectful community.
I am going to close this thread since it keeps popping up and it's quire old. iRV2 is NOT on the decline!
