I passed about 5 truck stops/travel plaza'a yesterday. They all appeared businness as normal, with lines of semi's at the fuel pumps. I never did hear any talk of such action on the CB.

While a boycot might make you feel good it's really not going to matter. The oil companies have merged so many times that it's almost impossible to attack any one company.
Also, you need to understand this, if the demand for gas declines here in the USA then the oil companies just send the gas to another country to sell. This happened here about 3 weeks ago, the oil companies took our surplus gas and shipped it overseas to another country that had a shortage, therefore keeping the price here up.
If the govt. would look at the oil companies like they did Ma Bell, and Microsoft, and start breaking up the oil giants then take oil off of the commodities market then you will see prices start to fall.

I just talked to my neighbor about this thread and he says its a long time joke. He dont know of a single trucker going on strike. He says a lot of the owner operators are shutting down and going out of business but the big companies are picking up the slack. They are also telling their people not to run the trucks when they are not in them and that is about the size of it.
Until we get to the same fuel cost and England at 10.00 a gallon he doubts we will really see anything big happen in the US.
As for not supporting all gas stations, his comment was, "what do people have against people trying to make a living"???
We could all stop for five straight days and it would not affect the prices. Maybe if we went 14 days of not buying fuel. But show me who is going to shut down for 14 days.

We really can't compare what we pay per gallon with England / Europe, or any other country. England taxes fuel at the pump somewhere around 50%.
I agree with CB5300,...if we would get the speculators out of the oil business, prices might get competitive. The only way to do this (without starting a revolution) is for everyone to start writing their representatives & congressmen and express your displeasure.

I believe a mass boycott would have a great effect on gas prices in the short term but I also believe that organizing a mass boycott is almost impossible.

You've got to get people to the point where they just can't live with it anymore. Unfortunately, we're not there yet.
