I bought my Sunpass at a CVS in Florida. For me it was a two step process. First you have to buy the Sunpass in the store. Then you have to go online to activate it and tie it to a credit card. The website said that the activation could take 24 hours but I used my Sunpass the next day with no problem. Definitely worth it as you can fly through the tolls.

PS - If you are in Big Pine Key, make a right at the light (north) and follow signs for No Name Key. Stop at the No Name Pub for food and drink. You will see more dollar bills than you have ever seen in your life!

We booked a spot in Boyds at the beginning of the year. This will be our first time there in an RV so we'll be checking out the other places while we're there.

I grew up in key West ,Boyds has been there forever . about a half mile from Boyds is a local seafood place called Rusty Anchor .Best in Key West, In the 70's we used to hate the rv's clogging up the roads ...kinda of funny how things change .

It's been a while since we got back so I guess I'll post my experience as promised.

Getting there was a little dicey because we left Jersey on December 25th and the big winter storm hit north Carolina on the 26th just as we were passing through. It snowed heavily all the way through NC and continued into Georgia. We made it without incident even with the toad. We must have passed at least 2 dozen cars spun out off of the side of the road. Most of them just sitting there helpless as we all passed them at 10 MPH.

We spent 4 days at Boyds Campground. It's as expensive as everything else down there so the cost was figured in. They had us in a very small lot which I did not consider a water front lot as we had requested so I went to the office to quietly protest assuming they would simply declare that it was all they had. As I thought, they did exactly that so I went back and began to attempt to back in. Before I could start Lisa from the front office drove up and kindly notified me that she had found another site for us. She led me to site #118 which was right on the water and just perfect!
Property on the Keys is at a premium so Boyds like any other place down there really packs them in. I have a Toy hauler and have modified the ramp to act as a deck so being close to our neighbors never bothered us.

It was a little chilly at first but soon warmed up nicely and we had a great time. Having the bike made getting around easy and having the car allowed us to bring the dog with us.

I'm including a link to a slide show of all the photos taken during the trip if you care to look through them.

Christmas 2010

Why did you come back?

Great pics and glad to see you made it to the No Name Cafe!

Thanks for sharing those photos! Just what I needed as I'm looking outside at the snow, looking at the calender wishing it would speed up as we're heading from South Jersey to Bluewater Key on May 12th, 2011!

This has been and unusual and brutal winter. I should have never came back especially with what we had to drive through just to escape for the week.

Have a safe trip and be sure to let us know how you liked Bluewater Key

Yep it has!

It'll be the second go-around for us at Bluewater Key. We went Spring '10. Needless to say, we love it there.
