No need since it doesn't drip. I just put a chunk on the top rack. I wear gloves for this. BTW it can produce snow inside the fridge if it is humid when you start. It goes away though.

The thermal mass of what your putting in the frig is significantly more than the thermal mass of the air that's in a warm frig.

Don't put warm stuff in the frig, If you pre-cool / pre-freeze stuff thats going in the frig, its should be OK.

We freeze several bottles of water at home and these go into the RV frig compartment along with all the other stuff pre-cooled stuff.

How is the Frig jump started?

Does not the Dry Ice fool the coldstat.

If it's cold in the box, the fridge doesn't need to run!

Inquiring minds want to know.

I agree you can precool the box!

The frige would take ten hours or so to get fully cold here in the Keys. The fry Ise (or a big bag of ice) just gets it to the operating temperature right away and it takes over normal operation when the ice is gone.

We use frozen water bottles. They cool it down quick and leave us with ice cold water to drink later.

We also freeze gallon or 1/2 gallon plastic milk containers and use these to get our RV fridge to cool down faster and it also helps on hot days. plus no drips or mess to deal with. when they thaw just refreeze or use as drinking water. Also can freeze lemonade, etc. and use that to cool and then drink.

You don't need to store it in anything. It evaporates to a gas. No muss or fuss.

I put two blue blocks of the type you can refreeze in the freezer part then after the refrigerator is up to temp the blocks refreeze and re use them in the folding cooler bag we have if we want to take anything cold with us on our day trips.

To clarify, no 120VAC needed, 12VDC is required.

I put blue ice in the fridge and freezer when starting it up. We use this later in our cooler for day trips. Only liquid water on them is from condensation so no fear of leaking water inside the fridge.
