Just back from Gulf Shores!

Took an extended weekend and headed to Gulf Shores AL last Friday. We had 2 really good days and 3 tolerable days. Sunday night Monday morning we had a few storms blow through but I must say the camper did great! It was cold out but stayed nice and toasty inside.

Here are a couple of pictures of our site. We stayed at Gulf Shores state park.

Looks like you got one of the better sites. Table by the lake, grill, easy walk to fishing and gator-gawking!

It don't look cold in your pictures but I am in Minnesota, can't see where you live though. So how cold was it?

Gulf shores, al

Just made reservations for the months of Dec. 2015, Jan, Feb, Mar, 2016 at Gulf State Park, in Gulf Shores, AL. I have stayed at Island Retreat Rv Park on hwy 182, if I remember the hwy number correctly. The brother in law and his wife stayed in the park while we were there, so we were able to drive through the park to look around. I really like the park. This is my first time of planning to be a snowbird. It is so excithing. To think out of the cold and snow for the most part.
Life is a trip, ENJOY the ride.
Safe Travels.

Ok you have to remember I am from the South (B'ham) so this is cold to me! Also it's a nice damp cold so you really feel it to your bones...average this time of year is in the 60's - 70's.

Not to rain on your parade, but you're going to be surprised how cold it's going to be in Gulf Shores for those months. Three days ago here in Foley it got down to the low 20's. People had to unhook from water and make sure the wet bays were heated. We'll be rolling out of here next week for warmer climes.

Hi Ramets, Yes I know it can get cold in Gulf Shores, but I figure that there will more warmer days there than up here in the mid west. Also since I have vision issue and don't drive anymore, one of my kids will be driving me down and back. No doubt FL would be nicer, but I was trying to limit the time that the kids would have to devote to getting me there. Normally my sister drives the MH, but she still works. But the following winter she will be retired and then we will head further south for sure. I am tracking the temp in Gulf Shores daily, comparing it to my home temp, and so far its a whole lot warmer. Plus the gulf is right there. Looking at the Mississippi River is just not the same. LOL
Life is a trip, ENJOY the ride.
Safe Travels.

What's cold to someone living in the south can feel warm to those from the north. February & March will be very pleasant.

Hi ya twogypies, that's what I figured. Its probably going to be a lot warmer down there than where I live. So it its in the 20's for a day or two. It will probably be in the 50's of more real soon. That doesn't happen here till April. Yep, just depends where you are from.
Life is a trip, ENJOY the ride.
Safe Travels.
