Keeping Seldom Used Motorhome
We have always had large diesel motorhomes until 2015 when we bought a used Winnebago 24' Class C
Because of age, two recreation homes and other commitments we are only going camping about 3 times a year.
My wife wants to sell it to get it out of the driveway - I think we should keep it just in case.
Anyone else keeping a seldom used RV

Yep, late wife died in August last year, still "stuck" at home with a 17 yr old step grandson and one more year of HS to go so I haven't been out much (2000 miles since mid 2015) BUT I'm NOT going to sell it. I'll probably die in it someplace on the road!

RikR that is always the debate, how much use makes it worth keeping.

I used to have what my family referred to as a "fleet" of VW campers, as many as seven at one time. It was easy to keep them, because parking them at home doesn't eat into our fun-money. It's bad for the vehicles to let them sit, though, so I was constantly switching between them to exercise the mechanical bits and keep them in good running condition. In the end, it consumed too much of my time and "thought energy" to keep up with them. Our current 40ft diesel pusher is enough work by itself. If I were to have more than one, they would have to be trailers.

I'm not going out much more than you. Maybe 6 times this year. I'm keeping it.

3 times a year is 3 times more than a lot of RV buyers use their yard ornaments
We've been through a few lean travel years, but we've always had a camper of some sort. But then, they've never had a payment associated with them, so the only thing they were taking from us was space.
I guess the difference here is that my wife and I have always been in agreement and the thought of selling never crossed our minds. And we were always happy when the lean years were over and we had a home away from home patiently waiting for us.
Nowadays my kids are surprised to see us when they swing by for a visit. They often ask why we still have a house taking up space in our yard.

If the financial burden isn't a problem, keeping it is sort of a "why not" sort of thing. But if the wife isn't happy with that, she probably won't want to go camping either. Happy Wife = Happy Life and all that.
One concern is that an unused RV often gets neglected in terms of ongoing maintenance. You decide to go camping but find that batteries have gone bad, a water leak has developed somewhere, and/or the genset won't start. Oh, and the tires got old and need to be replaced as well, even though they have only 5000 miles on them. Are you going to deal with that?
