I have 3 Personal Watercraft that use these. Unfortunately, Kidde says that they have no direct replacement, and will replace those with "similar size" extinguishers that may not fit into the same location. That's a no-go; most (all of mine) PWC have only a specific space/housing for the fire extinguisher. Thanks, Kidde. Guess I'll have to search for a different brand.

Checked my fire extinguishers and they are branded First Alert. Does this mean they are not affected or is this a Kidde-manufactured brand?

Go to Kidde.com, it will name the other brand names involved.

Kidde Fire Extinguisher Recall

Just saw this and thought it worth posting on our forum.

Looks like KIDDE is recalling many plastic handle fire extinguishers. Follow the links to get to the appropriate model.

I went online yesterday to complete the form for a replacement but the form required a date code be submitted, but my extinguisher didn't have a date code so I was required to call Kidde. I was only on ignore about 10 minutes and discussed my issue with an American speaking lady. She took my info and stated my replacement would be arriving in about 2 weeks. I was impressed.

Between home, RV, and workshop, I have five units under the recall. Submitted the necessary form on-line last night and was advised 15 to 20 business days delivery on replacements.

40 million? How can the company possibly survive that? I think I have at least half a dozen that qualify for replacement............

I hate sticky forums. They stay on your mind and you can't sleep for thinking about them and if you get one on your fingers the dogs want to lick them clean.

But seriously folks, it is a violation of federal law to sell them after a recall. So, does that mean that the dealerships have to replace them before a unit can be bought and transferred? That was one of the things that I pointed out to Kelly was that the cheap point-of-sale extinguisher was going to be changed out for one with a metal head. I hadn't changed it yet, but there are two more larger ones in compartments that are handy.
