Kudos to GMAC Insurance

While driving across South Dakota last month a wind gust unfurled the main awning.

Called GMAC after we got the awning strapped down. They issued a claim number immediately and told me to take it to the repair shop of my choice.

Just got off the phone with the repair shop owner. He sent them a few pictures and the estimate, they asked for a couple more pictures and sent him the check less my deductible and freight charges. He said they will cover freight once the awning is delivered and he has the freight invoice.

Overall a simple process and GMAC did exactly what they said they would. No hassles, no haggling.

I've been waiting to see how they handled this claim before moving my cars to GMAC from GEICO.

Thats great to hear. I got a quote from them on the RV a couple of weeks back and they were 40 to 45% lower than what I what I paid through State Farm. When I get closer to my renewal, I'll get a quote for all the vehicles.

Awesome to hear you had a good experience. We just purchased our fulltimers insurance through them, and transferred our toad as well. Hope the repairs happen quickly for you!

I tried to insure my MH with them, but the agent said I'd have to use GMAC for ALL vehicles and not just the MH. Not will to do that.

Find a different agent. We have GMAC on the MH, State Farm on 3 vehicles and GEICO on 2 vehicles.

I have GEICO on my cars and GMAC on the MH. GEICO was in place when I insured the MH with GMAC, you need to try a different agent or call GMAC direct.

GMAC on the MH, AAA on everything else. I dealt with GMAC directly, they never mentioned my other vehicles?

I called the GMAC 800#, the lady said it was due to the value of the MH...don't know what that has to do with anything, but that was her answer.

We have GMAC on 4 vehicles and the house. No complaints. They have resonded well to 2 water leak problems in the house and replaced 3 windshields on 1 car. They don't cover boats, so that's under Proressive.

GMAC, had claim when i wrinkled two basement doors at wal-mart. Got a prompt response, repair but after it was all over, GMAC went up two hundred a month and assigned 5 points on my policy. That sucks.

That is not good service and certainly tells me they don't care about me as a client.

I have GMAC on MH and two cars because I received a sizable discount with two cars added to the policy. Then I have State Farm with the house and one car because State Farm gives me a big discount if I have at least one vehicle on their policy. Worked great for me but I haven't had a claim yet. Good to know GMAC does step up to the plate.

Don't even bother with them if you have had even 2 "no fault claims". Their cost went from around $800 for 6 months to over $1100. Needless to say, I'm going to stick with Foremost.
