Kwikee Steps Series 32

2003 Fleetwood Flair.

I have Series 32 Kwikee RV steps and the linkage that connects the gear box to the steps has broken off and doesn't seem repairable.

A simple Google search would indicate that I can get a replacememt gearbox compatible with the Series 32 steps.

However, Lippert and every other source I have gone to says that since my gear box part number is 151320, that gearbox is no longer manufactured and there are no replacement parts for it and the one that I can google and easily find will not work with my steps. They say I have to get a new set of steps, motor, and gearbox. I'm obviously trying to avoid that if at all possible.

Does anyone know a work around? Or if what I'm being told is correct? Thanks for any assistance.

Maybe find an RV junk yard that may have those type steps… ??

Amazon says this is compatible with a lot of the kwikee series steps….even 32

Go to Amazon and look it up. They do have the gearbox for series 32 steps.

They actually do not have what I need. Those are for the newer Series 32, and won't work with my steps. I spoke to the manufacturer and those will not work. I agree that it looks like they would.

No, they actually don't. If you can find a gearbox that has a part number of 151320, then that would work. There isn't anything that could find on ebay that would work.

I checked with three salvage yards and none have the part I need. The one you sent as an Amazon link will not work with the older steps that I have. I spoke with the manufacturer and they confirmed that.

What you're being told is correct. Kwikee changed the magnetic door switch, control board, motor, and gear box a few years ago and doesn't have any of the old parts for service. You'll have to change all of it.

Kwikee does make conversion kits; come with everything you need. Unfortunately, they are not cheap; around $400. It is part number 909770000, do a google search for prices. Here's the cheapest I found: https://www.adventurerv.net/kwikee-s...t-p-44247.html

For just $80, I think I might try the Amazon one; send it back if it doesn't work.

If the steps themselves are OK, I'd replace the electronic/mechanicals (with the $400 conversion kit I mentioned above) rather than the entire unit. But YMMV.
