Laundry question inspired by the clothing thread

We’ve not yet been able to take many extended trips due to health issues with our moms, so laundry hasn’t been an issue for us often. Our rig doesn’t have a spot for installed machines, so we are either going to need portables or stick with laundromats.

Some traveling friends of ours have a 26’ TT, and their laundry solution seems to work well for them. It revolves around a portable spin dryer. It gets the clothes dry enough that they fully dry in no more than an hour or so in most cases. They use a pair of folding sweater dryers on their bed for the final drying of smaller items. Washing is done in a pair of small plastic totes in the shower. Occasional hand agitation, but mostly just soaking with the final rinse done with the shower. They do a little bit of laundry about every other day. Seems to work without being a burden.

Anyone else use a spin dryer in a system like this? I’ve looked at them, but not sure how big to go.

Seventeen year veteran of five plus months on the road each year. The 5er has the plumbing prep for a laundry but never had the urge to install one. It makes for a wonderfully huge pantry closet.

Every two weeks we head off to a nearby laundramat. Hour and a half that pile of laundry is finished and being put away. Can't emphasize how nice it is to have that whopping pantry and not be looking for a store every few days or every week.

After a week laundry gets kinda funky. Once a week for us is laundry day, usually at a KOA also a trip to the store to resupply.on the same day. It's gotta be done sometime When that's done a good cleaning of the bathroom and kitchen are, and we're good for another week.

When I traveled for work, I just used laundromats. An hour and it was done. DR

Here's older posts on portable spin washers/dryers:

Personally, I'd recommend just using a laundramat once a week or two instead of putzing with little dabs of laundry.

We're in the laundromat camp, too. No specific day but it comes out to about every two weeks or so. Since we're retired military, we typically look for a military campground that has a laundry. Sometimes they're even free!

We purchased this portable washer/spin dryer from Amazon in 2022. Works great. We use a clothes hanging rack attached to the ladder and a tension rod in the shower for drying. Water hose needs to be attached to a faucet and drain hose needs to be drained up into a sink.

How dry does it get the clothes? The ones I’m looking at are 3200 or 3600RPM vs. the 800RPM on that one.

The big thing to me about doing the laundry at the site is I can sit and cook a pot of soup or work on other chores while the laundry is working.

They come out pretty dry no dripping. Only heavy items come out a little wetter.

When we were on a Southwest 3 month tour we utilized Laundromat’s. Every two weeks also found the locals were friendly and had some useful information. We also tried to locate a laundromat near a grocery store. Our unit is ready for a combo but we never want to carry the dead weight a washer/ dryer.

Once every week to 10 days I try to stay where there is access to laundry and grocery facilities. I also use that day to do a general clean up.

Not sure about the king set but we've washed towels and queen sheets in it. We do the towels and sheets separately. Just don't overload it and it works fine.
