Led bulb supplier

I remember reading that there was a company that could supply you the exact replacement led bulbs for your coach if you supplied them with the details of your coach. I cannot remember where I read it. Does anyone here know where I could find exact replacement led’s for my 2011 Forest River Cardinal 3150rl?

Bulbs

Are you referring to the bulbs in the interior for lighting, or for the exterior, like headlights and clearance lights?

I converted my '92 Pace Arrow to LED a couple of years ago and sourced everything from Amazon. I even did the dash lights on my '95 Jeep Wrangler.

There is nothing magic about which coach you have, just match up the numbers.

many RV lights are standard automotive like ceiling and basement lights are 1141 and wall sconce lights are 921, search on ebay and amazon using these numbers. Bathroom vanity use the same 1141 base, just a different shape globe

I buy all mine from Amazon, they are about 1/4 the cost of most websites. I've never had one burn out so can't comment on lifespan.

rvledlites.com and superbrightleds.com are two resources. They used to be the go-to place for LEDs but now anything LED can be found on Amazon.

In my humble opinion it is best to take a picture of each different kind of bulb to be replaced . Count the number of each variety and send your pictures and count to the supplier and they can match them up. You will need to know the color{kelvin} or better know as warm white or cool white or the combination of both. In most cases people will go with mostly warm white as it most closely resembles the light or color our eyes are used too. Some people like the cool white shining in kitchen counters and in bathroom for make-up purposes. I hope this helps in your decision making process.

Thanks.

My eyes are not as good as they use to be so I like light similar to natural sun light. That is one reason why I would like to upgrade the lights in the camper. Warm light usually makes it harder to see in my opinion. That leaves me with two options; natural and cool white. Do you have an option on those?

You would probably like natural, bright or pure white in 4k-4.5k Kelvin . Read reviews to see how they match up.
This is closer to old cool white florescent cool white LEDs will be bluer. A lot of soft white LEDs are way more yellow than soft white incandescent or tubes. Daylight bulbs can be very blue it's confusing.Ottlite makes some of the best fluorescent task/sewing lights very easy on the eyes.
We have been through many different color tubes converting to T-8s at work and LED replacements. along with HID LED replacements. Some of the early explosion proof LEDs fixtures were terribly blue , reflected off silver, stainless metal and lots of blue painted equipment. They were big bucks many non-replaceable LEDs in them failed. The next couple generations have been better. Our paint lab need special daylight bulbs .

Short caveat - LEDs come in two basic forms, those rated at 12VDC (or 12.5DC in reality) and those that have an accepted voltage range like 9VDC- 26VDC.

This first style of the 12VDC models means they, even though labeled "automotive" will often have a short lifespan because your house battery may cycle up to levels of near 15VDC and depending on what your solar controller is set up to produce as well as other charging devices. Your alternator alone while charging the house battery means it will set the voltage on your battery as well as your appliances to much higher than 12VDC and this includes your LED lamps which can see the typical alternator optimum charging voltage of 14.2VDC. The converter alone powered from shore power will allow you to be already over the recommended 12.5VDC while the LEDs are sourced from the 13.6VDC or so from a typical non-multi-stage converter.

So for long life, buy the models labeled with with wider DC range of voltages. The downside is that you have a much narrower choice of models if you stick with these long life models which are often sold in the same size package as the old antiquated incandescents.

Otherwise, why buy what is the "recommended replacement"? The incandescent light bulb is at least 2 centuries old and the round reflector type base was build in the overheads as a necessity and not as anyone's particularly brilliant design strategy. Modern LEDs rated (unfortunately at the 12V or 12.VDC level) are available in super bright packages, such as the 5050 48-SMD 12V DC LED package.

Psychologically speaking, the warm white color selection will likely make you feel more at home in your coach but modern-ites may go with the daylight color or even the dentists in the crowd may choose cool-white for something resembling the office LOL. Of course these with the wide color ranges are typically in the 12.5V unregulated models sold for automotive operation and with the traditional BA15S bayonet adapter. They of course won't last as long as touted but you should still get a few years of use out of them.

If you are the engineering type or hobbyist, there are some 50 cent small dime-sized inline regulators you can buy off eBay China and solder them inline while setting their output to 12.5VDC and thus extend the life of the models advertised as "12v automotive" and thus convert your lamp to the actual long life which they boast. Of course the downside of these extremely flat 48-SMD-5050 style is the worthless VHB style tape that comes with them and with the concave surface your are normally taping them to, the fact of the matter is they will fall down and lie on the inside of the reflector on the first bump you hit, but that can be resolved with a couple of beads of silicon glue and some painters tape to hold them in place for 12 hours or so while they dry (don't go overboard because the more glue you apply, Murphy guarantees the sooner the failure and needed replacement).

The upside is obvious, a thunderously strong beam of light pointed directly downward where it was intended as opposed to what Edison would have chosen, plus the high efficiency of these that put out many times the amount of light compared to the stock incandescent and for a large bank of 48 of the SMD-5050 package, that's about a 330mA or a third of an amp draw where the stock incandescent bulb was likely drawing 2-3A.

You can always opt instead for the "easy peasy" Wal-Mart or AutoZone blister-pack route and thus the path of our dear conventional American populace and with that buy something off the shelf at your favorite big box store and be done with your "upgrade" in a matter of minutes. They'll of course be labeled as "exact replacements" and you'll be satisfied with them until you see what your neighbor has installed while taking just a wee bit more time to be a shade more innovative.

We did the conversion thing a la Amazon.com. I started by buying several different kinds because we had some preferences as to light color. We did not like the bright white in the main coach but those were great for the garage bays beneath.

Also, some of them generate EMI that affects tv reception, so check that too. The so-called specialists who claimed to analyze what you have and offer LED replacements were like 6x the price on Amazon.
