Legal width of RV

I have hunted for information regarding width limits, 96 vs 102. Has anyone had problems with traveling and camping far away from the interstate hiways. I am looking to by first rv this spring, a class A, 34 ft or so. I know about the legal limits and it seems like everyone just ignores them. I’m just looking to enjoy traveling as much as possible, some boondocking but mostly fhu.
Thank you for any input.

Newly retired and checking out full time idea.

102" is legal on all Interstates and the US National Highway System (US xx routes) and nearly all state highways. It's pretty much the default unless otherwise restricted by notices. Note that the 102" does not include safety equipment, e.g. sideview mirrors, or removable accessories (like the RV awning).

Apparently we're over legal length in MS, or so my GPS tells me. I don't know how you guys with 45 footers stay out of jail.

Reality is even in the crevices of the map where regulations are outdated with respect to modern sizes, nobody cares about recreational vehicles. Neither dimensions or weights.

Yep 102 but I have been on many state roads and county roads, especially in the east that do not meet those limits. Interstates and US highways no problem.

I read about the state and county roads. We are planning lots of travel off the interstates. Looking for a class a with the toad being a trailer carrying gold wing and sidecar. That is why I asked the question

We stay off the interstates as much as possible and use US highways, state roads and county roads. We are just real careful on the county ones and don't travel long distances on these.
We have a 40ft DP and a toad as well. In 8,000 miles not a problem and in 15,000 miles with our 25ft Class C and toad also no problems.

45ft is legal max length for RVs in all states except NJ and DC (which is 40ft).
According to this list: https://www.rvia.org/system/files/me...V%20Length.pdf
