"No officer! It is not a radar detector or a GPS, it is a safety camera."

For my dash cam.

what unit do you use for the MH and how good is the Coverage. The units I have looked at have a limit on the width of coverage just in front of windshield.

I purchased the one for $73.00 discussed in this Link. I believe there is even a short video clip.

I mount mine in the center of the dash, at dash level. The suction cup IS on the windshield. It gives me a wide enough angle to pick up anyone cutting in front, etc. The quality is quite good. Putting the suction cup at the top of the windshield would increase the focal distance and probably give a wider view at ground level.

I am satisfied with it. If you need more information, PM me, or we can start another thread.

Should I run into any law enforcement agency that says it is illegal on the windshield, I have a GPS disc, and I can move the GPS to the side window and move the camera back to the GPS disk. Hopefully if I run into that situation I'll just get a verbal warning - but!

I have a Garmin 265WT and if I put it in the center of the dash the temperature and compass in the Gentex mirror will always be the same. It does something to the mirror to make it useless. I haven't figured out the other use for the mirror though since all I can see is the stove in the MH. Must bve a fed. law that a mirror is required, even if you can't see anything with it.

Ever look at the windshield of a police car? All kinds of stuff, cameras, speed detectors, shotgun, etc. Don't see how a gps would be a problem.

Va is the same way, but most LEOs have considerably better things to do.

In most states, law enforcement vehicles are exempt from many DOT laws/regs. It's not wise to judge what you can get away with, compared to the popo. Ever heard "Do as I say, not as I do"? Just saying.
