Leveling and Chocking questions

Last weekend was the first time I stayed on a site that wasn't level. The rear passenger tire was off the ground. Is that okay? Or should I have pulled the jacks back up, pulled forward, and back up on some leveling blocks/wood?

Also, do you use chokes even when you are on a level site? Or just rely on my air brakes?

I would place leveling boards under the tires.

We carry an assortment of boards made from 16" x 16" x 3/4 waterproof plywood (2 pieces glued/screwed together to make a 16" x 16" x 1 1/2") for the jack pads and 8" x 24" x 1 1/2 " boards for under the tires that I use whenever the campsite is 'level challenged'.

I've never used chocks since the coach is held in place by the rear brakes, but there is nothing wrong with using chocks if you want to.

You only need chocks or brakes until the leveler jacks make contact with the ground.

Once the levelers are lifting the chassis, the brakes are only holding the tires and axles. All of the chassis weight is resting on the 4 levelers. They don't roll.

I've witnessed a Class A slide some distance on its leveling jack pads on wet grass as the weight was lifted off the rear tires. Break the surface tension and it will move. In this case the site sloped to the rear and as soon as the friction was spread across the jack pads and the tires the hold broke and the coach slide back several feet until the owner raised the jacks.

Park on boards to level your rig, use the leveling jacks to stabilize and take the bounce out of the house.

And the tires on the same exact surface would not slip ?

You do know that as you lift the chassis with the jacks, the weight comes off the tires.
