Seems quite high to me as well which is why I asked. I also learned that it is one piece, so the foot is welded to the post. Even at that, it just seems very steep.

I did same thing (I definitely did it through abuse) . I used jacks to fix it.
A few tries and good as new. No $ involved. Peter
