lighting issue....Help!

I need help with an interior lighting issue I haven't been able to resolve. A few of the 12volt overhead lights are out. The bulbs are good but only work when you hold them in place. As soon as you let off pressure the light goes out. Is the fixture worn out or is there something I'm doing wrong?

Welcome to the forum.!

Not knowing what type of light you have, I would guess either the socket contact or the bulb contact needs burnishing to remove light corrosion. Take a pencil eraser and rub it on each contact until it becomes shinny. It could also be the socket contact has bent and only makes contact when the bulb is pressed. If you could be specific and describe the type of light your talking about we can be of more help.

Welcome to irv2 Clayton.
What type lights are we talking about florescent or bulbs.
Age of coach and fixture exposure you may have oxidation on fixture contacts that have to be cleaned.
A electrical contact spray maybe all you need to clean them up.

Assuming you have a BA15s or similar base (like an 1156 bulb) try this: If the fiber contact holder is sticking in the housing or the spring behind it is broken etc. the center bulb contact will not meet the bulb requiring you to hold it in. With the power off you can push in on the contact and fiber holder to see if it moves freely.

I had the same problem so I took the light fixture down and put new wire nuts on after stripping more bare wire. Since I did this they have worked fine!

Do you have C921 (wedge bases)? If you have 194 bulb(also wedge, but smaller) that may cause you a problem. As someone suggested, you need to tell us more about what you have to get any real meaningful help!!

cheers
