If you drop your wallet or credit card in a parking lot, it is still yours. Anyone who picks it up and says, "Finders, Keepers," is stealing. The property is still yours. The items need to be turned in to the closest facility or police for return to the rightful owner.

It is so unfortunate that the criminals just do what they want without severe repercussions.
I dropped my wallet a few years ago in a parking lot of my bank. Had just cashed a large check. Had 1000 dollars in it. Relievzed that I dropped it a the first place to pay a bill. Went back to bank they brought up video of lot saw person that picked it up and the plate of the car that left with it .Bank manager knew the person. They called them and were told he didn't have it . Called the sheriff filed a report with the and he told us that it was not illegal for someone to find a wallet and empty it out. That it was my own faulty but he would go try to recover it. He brought it to me with no money in it and three credit cards missing and the officer told me it was not his problem. So your statement is not true.

I'm sorry to hear that but my statement is true and it will depend on the police department in the area you are in. Sounds like they took the easy way out.

Just One Link in a search on the topic.

Okay, Two Links

After a warning to stay on topic, posts continue that are off topic and borderline political. The thread is now closed.
