They do happen! Though I bought mine from a friend (that in itself risky), it was a ridiculously low price! Now, he was "under pressure" and threat of divorce to get rid of one of his 4 rigs. And...I did add to the pressure of wanting and taking one that was not his first choice! Yep, we're still on good terms. He and his DW? He sold another and then went and bought a Prevost!

Mike,
One slight leak is an issue. Three???? There is complete lack of maintenance if your roof was leaking this bad and you did nothing to stop it getting this severe visible inside damage. Unless you are ready to completely tear the inside apart and redo and fix structural damage I would not purchase this rig.
Mold is going to be a deadly issue here. Are you going to be sleeping in this rig, taking your family in this rig, then you will all be breathing it in.
There will be another rig come along without this issue. DO NOT BUY THIS ONE!
Lynne

I had some folks contact me about rigs they had for sale that are far better than anything ive seen on PPL or RVT. I made the comment out of frustration.

Ok we made the trip and went and through the Newmar. It was a clean rig, but it needed TLC. You could tell it hadnt had screws tightened and such. The tires were dated 2006. Needed all new furniture unless you liked what was in it. It started and ran great, generator purred. But, needed exhaust and all new graphics, some minor body work, a whole list of small things that needed taken care of. For what she was asking it was a heck of a deal for a newmar.. started crunching numbers and we would have to sink almost as much as we paid for to get it like we wanted it. We passed. I had and still have class A fever hoping the next one is it. Lol..thanks for all the great input! Hope to meet ya'll on the road soon!

We are in St Louis and saw a motorhome we were interested in in Houston. We happened to be visiting a relative in Beaumont for Thanksgiving and inquired about purchasing the RV. The seller, a dealership gave us some information and it seemed like a good deal. We were going to pay cash so we got a cashiers check for within a few thousand dollars of what we were willing to pay and carried some cash to make up the difference (I always figured a good negiotiating technique is to show the check and say thats what I can do.)
When we arrived the seller indicated he was renting out the RVs and that he had it rented for the weekend. After we looked at the RV and asked to test drive it we were told we couldn't as the renter had arrived two hours early. We left and I used frequent flyer miles to fly home and redeposited the cashiers check into the bank.
We tried again later with a dealership in Indiana about 280 miles from our home that had good pricing on a couple of RVs. One of the RVs couldn't be driven and another had issues that prevented us from purchasing it and taking delivery that day among them the tires were all about 10 years old and one had a chunk out of it. We made an offer and couldn't agree on a price with the needed repairs made. The next day the dealership called and said they would accept our offer with the requested repairs.
We picked it up two weeks later and everything appeared to be good including the new tire recently installed. About 75 mile in we had a blowout on one of the duallys and luckily we were about a mile from the closest exit that had a Loves. We had planned on replacing all six 275/70 r22.5 tires in St Louis for about $2,000. Loves had a replacement but installed it was $700 for one tire. We decided we wanted to get home and bit the bullet and went to get the tire changed. When the tech started to change the he noticed the outside dually was a 255/75 r22.5. The dealer had put the wrong size tire on and the extra pressure from the smaller tire caused a blowout. Suddenly we were looking at $1,400 in new tires to get home.
We have AAA Premier RV which gives us tows up to 200 miles. Long story short AAA came through and got us to the tire dealer in St Louis for free.
I guess my advice is be prepared for problems and look over the RV very closely before you buy it. Consider having a third party inspect it as well and don't be afraid to walk away.
