Low electrical Power

Got back to the rv this afternoon. The inline volt meter (the one that plugs into the wall) is showing in the red out side of the green. But the needle for no apparent reason bumps up to almost in the green and then around 108( guess volts?) As you can tell I am not an electrition. I cant find my volt meter to check the box. The codes on my installed progressive industry display does not seem out of wack. Has any one had issues like this. I have an 03 Newmar Dutchstar.

It is 30 degrees tonight dropping into the twenties. I am using an electric space heater with a cord running from the post so it wont effect the power of the MH.

I did contact the front desk but no one can help me tonight.

Any thoughts??

Thanks

Possibly it does affect your rv, it's the same pedestal. Lot's of others might be running heaters too.

Can this be removed and be used to test the pedestal?

Also don't overlook that the inline may not be accurate....

Check the pedestal and see what the voltage is there. If it is low there it may be a problem with the campground power or the utility.

We were in Northern Michigan at a campground and had extremely low voltage. The campground owner said it was the utility. I had a contact with the utility and contacted him, he said there power was good and the campground did have a history of problems and that the wiring was subpare. Since were staying there for a longer period I ended up buying an autoformer that would monitor power and boost as needed.

I am dealing with a similar problem at a RV park in northern Arizona. Our Surge Guard EMS has been disconnecting us from the shore power multiple times a day lately (it shuts us down below 102v or above 132v). The park owner is actively working with an electrician to get the problem fixed. As of today they are escalating it to the power company.

This is why everyone should have a quality surge protector/EMS to protect the electrical system in their RV. I talk to our neighbors and none of them have a EMS and have no clue they have dangerous voltage levels in their RV. Power problems are much more common than most people think.
