Don't need a 3" hose. Heard story's of folks pulling up near the dump curb and letting it fly.
They say [Mod Edit] runs down hill.

We stay at our sons business when we go home and doesn't have a convenient dump near where we park and have the same situation at home so we use the Flojet there and it's been pretty flawless once I figured out I needed to make sure the impeller was free before using it. So now I just rotate the impeller a few times with a screwdriver and all's well.
I added an elbow so I could leave the FlowJet connected inside the compartment.

I understand that some can't do that due to the way its built.

My SaniCon is connected directly to the bayonet fitting and is never removed. The hose stores inside the wet bay as it's very compact. I've been using the SaniCon since 2005 and I don't rinse my hose when done. With the SaniCon, you just cap the end (twist on pvc cap) and store the hose. You NEVER have to deal with removing, cleaning and storing a 3" hose.

One of the things I prefer about using the 3" hose over using a macerator is in my experience the macerator needs to be monitored.

With the 3" hose I can go outside and pull the lever and go for a walk and then when I get back I can simply close the valve until it needs to be done again. When I'm hooked up through the macerator I have to stand there to both turn on the system and then turn it back off as soon as it's empty.

The new SaniCon Turbos, dump so fast, as you stood up, it would be almost done. My turbo dumps 50 gallons in about a minute.

I have been leery of using the Macerator as I have realized, more often than not, the waste from the black tank is emptied more slowly than hooking up the 3" hose and pulling the black tank dump handle.
My question is will the slower dumping flow rate when using a portable Macerator eventually cause a buildup of solids in the black tank? The waste has to be slowed down to be ground up then forced through a 3/4" hose.
I prefer the sudden whoosh of waste coming out of the black tank which carries the solids and waste water along with it. I'm fussy about my tank care procedures. I don't need to deal with the dreaded pyramid or malfunctioning tank sensors.
Has anyone else used a portable Macerator and what success or failure have you had with it?
Lynn
I have a Macerator pump used to dispose of waste when a 3" hose won't reach. However the tank seems to get poop pyramids more frequently when using the Macerator.

I had a thought... put a PVC "T" inline with the pump's output. One end of the "T" terminates in a male GHT adapter, the other leads to a ball valve the other end of which leads the pulverised poop back into the black tank "upstream" of the toilet's down pipe.
When recirculation of the macerated material is desired a GHT cap is installed instead of a garden hose leading to the sewer/septic drain port, and the balll valve is opened.

In one position the valve would direct waste to its final destination... Running the Macerator for a few minutes before dumping would pulverize all solids and toilet paper while using the liquified efluent to force the beginning of a poo pyramid into the Macerator.

Do you believe this concept has merit?

If so a self sealing gromet inserted through the tank with a 3/4 or 1" PVC pipe inserted through it would assure a leak free connection.

I use a macerator extensively and have black tank flush ability on both MH’s. I use the black flush to get the last of the waste out of the black tank and need it as I always get a good clump? At the end of the emptying cycle.

Hi Terri,

The black tank flush appears to use a 1/2" PEX tubing to supply water. I expect that there is nothing to increase the velocity of the wash water inside the tank.

I ocasionally use a Camco black tank cleaner tube that's inserted through the toilet. It has a reduced diameter right angle nozzle that increases the velocity of the was water. This high velocity stream cuts through the pyramid and does a good job of washing out the black tank. The concept of using the macerator to recirculate effluent brom the gate valve back into the black tank seems like it would prevent the formation of the poo pyramids especially if the macerator pump turned on automatically for a few minutes each day.

I had hoped that someone had tried this, before I drill a 1.25" hole into the side of the black tank to fit a 3/4" Uniseal bulkhead fitting... When home from our summer travels I may give this modification a try!

When we changed 5ers I discovered that on level ground in a site without sewer our 35 gallon gray boy fill was taller than our waste outlet on the 5er.
Macerator to the rescue in those instances just to get the waste into the portable tank so as not to have to move the 5er until we leave. I also use it in parks where the waste inlet at the site is 8 inches off the ground. SC especially.

I have two macerator toilets, my macerator pump for dumping the black tank stays in my storage building at home.
