MEDICAL ID in case of Emergency

We all try and control the things around us and keep alert when things fall apart. We try and keep our world safe as well as our family members. But "WHAT IF YOU HAVE NO CONTROL" who can help you? Help you tell the doctors of any medical conditions that you or a family member may have?

It is my hope this never happens to you. But let's say for example you're out driving when an accident happens? You may be out rock climbing and take a fall? Maybe just walking down a street and attacked and knocked unconscious. Who can tell the rescuers who you are? Blood type? the phone number of someone to be contacted for you? Some may have medical conditions that require medications.

A first responder is trained to help you, but only to a point. They do not know your medical report card of health, they do not know who you would like contacted. Or maybe your child has fallen did you know you can still be in charge and help the first responders help your family member(s) even yourself when you can not talk to them.

On your, iPhone is a FREE APP from Apple called "MEDICAL ID" The APP is a WHITE SQUARE with a RED HEART inside.

The responding first responder only has to pick up your IPhone even if LOCKED and on the locked screen on the bottom is "EMERGENCY" next they will see the words "MEDICAL ID" once they press it will only open your medical ID information you want a first responder POLICE OFFICER or FIRE PARAMEDIC personnel to know about you.

Here is how you set this MEDICAL APP on your iPhone, click the link below.

enter your NAME, Medical Conditions, Medical Notes, Allergies & Reactions, Medications, Blood Type, Emergency Contact(s).

Now with every APP, you will have to make some setting changes. Here attached is more helpful information for you about how to set up the APP on your own iPhone.

Medical ID is also available for Android phones. There is a free basic version and a premium one for $4.99. A similar app is ICE. Both available on Google Play.

How does the first responder know to pick up and look at your phone?
They all know to look for dog tags and bracelets but phones I would think they would assume are locked and wouldn't even necessarily find them.

I would not substitute a phone app for a necklace medallion listing critical medical conditions.

Thumbs up

Long time FF/ Paramedic here. This app is a great idea. But an awful lot of apps, programs and devices never make it to people in the field. This info would be great to access , but no one knows to a phone when we are doing patient care

I'll stick with this -

https://www.roadid.com/

No phone needed.

I suppose you could put a note on the bracelet to check your phone. Assuming they can find your phone. Half the time I can't find it.

I second RoadID. I was struck by a car when crossing the street, in a crosswalk with a green light. I was incoherent and couldn't even remember my name. The paramedics used my RoadID en-route to the Emergency Room. By the time I arrived the hospital had all of my medical history, insurance information, and emergency contact information. My phone was never found. The police theorized somebody stole it while I was out.

I too spent many years (31) responding to emergency incidents, only half of that time in the era of cell phones. I don't recall ever attempting to search someone's cell phone for information. We always found what we needed in their wallet or on their medic alert bracelet/necklace. Perhaps the new generation is going places without a credit card, drivers license, or other ID but I don't know anyone in mine that leaves home without at least one of the above.

YES, Nice Photo of Alert ID as that is just a layer of protection and NOT FREE as with the APPLE Medical ID APP.
