MH sitting for 7 days unplugged

Hello all.
Quick question.
We are heading to Disney for 7 days. The motorhome will be parked in a spacious part of the parking lot. Without access to a service to plug in, what should I do with the batteries shutoff? On or off?our only consideration is the refrigerator losing power. I do have the AGS set to start when the batteries get to a certain pooling, and the solar will keep the batteries ok during the sunny days.
We’ve never been in a position like this before. We are new by owners to our 2020 Phaeton QKH and are not sure how to proceed.
Thanks in advance.

With the combo of AGS and Solar you should be fine. Make sure everything else is off. It’s going to get really hot in there.

I have a 2019 Allegro Bus with the AGS system. I would feel comfortable leaving it as long as the AGS system is working and set up correctly.

I’d make sure you can run your generator in that lot. Some may not allow. If they do, I’d make sure you have enough fuel because when your tank gets to a quarter, the generator won’t start.

Unless you have rock solid internet enabled sensors and are going to physically check the RV on a regular basis, my opinion is that you should go ahead and empty your refrigerator, turn off your inverter, and cut 12v power as well.

Spoiled food inside a refrigerator is a nasty, nasty situation.

Now is the time to find out how long the fridge will stay cold with the coach unplugged. Empty the fridge, put a bowl of water inside the fridge and close the door. Check the water temperature every day or so to see if the temperature of the water is rising. If you can go more days than you are concerned about and the fridge is still cooling you should be good to go.
Pray for sunshine to keep the solar panel system working.

"Never been in this position before..." How do you know the solar will take care of the batteries? How much solar on the roof, how much and type of batteries?

As mentioned, the fuel level could have an impact on the generator.

Also, not mentioned, if the batteries get low, the AGS will turn on the generator, correct? The correct answer is maybe; the reason is the time of day. If for some reason the batteries do not charge during the day, and discharge at 1am, due to the hour restriction, the AGS will not start the generator. Then by the morning the batteries could be discharged to the point they will not start the generator. During quiet hours usually 11pm to 7am the auto-start feature will not work, unless you adjust it.

Are you parking it and staying in a hotel or will you be staying in the rig? The answer will direct the response.

I was wondering about this as well. My first thought was that he wouldn't be asking if they were staying in the rig. However, his wording, "The motorhome will be parked in a spacious part of the parking lot", makes it sound like it's a Disney parking lot he's talking about.

Guess if I had to, I'd see if there is a way to set the genset to come on each afternoon. The fridge should hold temp for a few hours if power to it is lost. As mentioned in other threads, there are a lot of variables. What type of refrigerator? Is there an inverter involved? How much solar? Battery capacity? The hot air temperature inside the rig during the day can be a big factor.

To each his own but I would not want to do something like that. Coming back to a hot rig and having to rely on the generator to run the a/c to cool down every day would not be my cup of tea. I'm guessing campgrounds around the area are full?

Not much info to go on here--like: battery capacity, amount of solar, RV is attended/ unattended? Like many, we stay for days in Q-site with no hook-ups, but its in the wintertime, so no need for A/C, and for me, it requires frequent attention to monitor generator, battery levels, fridge temps, etc. Frankly, I wouldn't feel comfortable depending on the AGS to start/run the genset for any extended length of time, without "supervision."

I don’t know why people are telling you to basically freak out. Just TEST everything first BEFORE you get into the boondocking situation, ESPECIALLY your AGS. If it indeed fires the gen at a pre set temperature , just fill the diesel and go have fun! When your coach gets to the pre set temp the gen will fire, you will have the a/c ON and it will also fire up once the gen starts. Also it will charge the batts ongoing for the fridge. Just test it first, that’s why you bought $ this rig!

All that tech works right up until it doesn't.

If you have never had a refrigerator full of food lose power and spoil, then you can't appreciate my cautious approach.

If you have solar you'll be just fine. We've done that. I doubt you'll have 7 days of solid clouds/rain.

Thanks everyone. Enough info here to help for sure.
We aren’t staying in the MH. We’re staying at a resort. They allow MH parking. I’ll set the AGS, empty the fridge and monitor daily.
Thanks to everyone.
