Millertech LiFePO4 lithium

Does anyone have experience with Millertech lithium batteries. The priced looks good. They have 100ah, 200ah and 275ah batteries at $825, $1650 and $2150, respectively.

Now these are cheap. 400ah for $1499.

Know nothing about Shunbin, though.

News flash, I can get 400 amp hours of deep cycle batts for $400 and they will work when the temperature is 0 or below, don't require a special charger and are proven. Nothing Lithium is cheap or affordable.

This was brought up on another forum. I don’t know hat the charging requirements are for lithium or AGM but one person wondered if the engine alternator would charge a lithium battery to it’s required level. Is that 14.6 volts. What is required for other battery types?

Thanks

Alternator voltage runs from 13.5 to 14.4. Maybe even a bit lower & higher than that in some vehicles and some circumstances. The alternator is not a well-regulated source for charging - that's not its primary function. Lead-acid batteries, whether flooded or AGM, tolerate the wide voltage range rather well. LiPO4 batteries are more sensitive to voltages and don't tolerate wide variations as well. However, the alternator isn't charging 24/7 either.

Actually over time lithium has proven to be cheaper than deep cycle batteries. Also that 400 AH only gives you 200 usable AH. Lithium for the WIN!
