I've never cared much for salt so tasting the water until it has the slightest hint of it is how I know when it's flushed. I think I go a little past what a home system does. Most houses on a water softener make it undrinkable for me.

If working correctly, you shouldn't taste any salt.
"An 8-ounce (237-milliliter) glass of softened water generally contains less than 12.5 milligrams of sodium, which is well within the Food and Drug Administration's definition of "very low sodium." Says Sheldon G. Sheps, M.D. at the Mayo Health Clinic.

Re-read that reference, pay attention to the paragraph "Ion Exchange", then look up that term in a science book
The salt ions remaining are not much, unless you have hypertension or heart problems, then it may be more than necessary to complicate the health problems. This may be tested with a TDS meter..

Believe me, if you don't salt your food you can taste it. I've developed bad cramping as I aged and the Lord told me twice it is lack of salt. There are days when I work I have to just eat a teaspoon of the stuff. Cramping stops in minutes, bout makes me puke but I'm learning to put it on my food.

Have your blood sugar checked as well. My old work partner cramping was caused by just mild type 2 diabetes. He said Mexican brand coconut water worked really good on leftover cramping ,after he got it under control. Finally he barely need the type 2 medication anymore. With diet and maybe a type of med that controls/slows carbohydrate absorption.

For $20-30 kit you can test yourself absolutely proven system. Mornings, before you eat if feeling peckish, 30-60 min after eating to see it spikes.and if something going on while cramps show up. Many people take control without prescriptions.
